CHAPTER 13
Things were heating up, and with enough evidence and a court date set, they finally summoned Mike to court. Gertrude had already abandoned him, so he had no one to turn to for assistance.
And, given how corrupted the systems were, it didn't take long for Mike to be sentenced and sentenced to fifteen years in prison.
For me, this sentence was insufficient to atone for Mike's sins. This did not sit well with me. For him, fifteen years was far too short, and it wouldn't be long before he was back out on the streets committing new crimes.
And just as I was about to erupt and come up with new ideas, Mike was summoned to court again, and this time, I attended myself because I couldn't believe that one could be so unlucky to be found with so many criminal charges, with the worst crimes being unearthed.
I was sitting in the audience in the courtroom, just watching Mike in his orange prison uniform sit there with no expression on his face. He appears to have been humbled by his time in prison.
Somehow, he had managed to lose all hope, which made me happy during the court session.
This time, Mike was charged with several rapes counts that he committed while unaware that they could catch him. The number of victims who braved even surprised me reporting this cretin to serve him justice.
When Mike and Gertrude got together, he apparently forced himself on several girls, whom he either threatened to keep quiet or paid for the trouble.
The unlucky ones weren't there to speak for themselves as they either suicided or left the country to start afresh.
This was the third session for these charges, and I was present to hear the verdict.
At the very least, Mike will be sentenced to more than fifteen years this time.
"Mr. Mike Fury is hereby found guilty of all charges," the judge said, and we all looked at him, "he ............"
I was so excited after hearing the first part of the sentence that I didn't bother listening to what the judge said next. But one thing was certain as I smiled my way out of the court with Clark and the bodyguards protecting me, 'Mike will not be getting out of prison in this life.'
He'd been sentenced to life in prison, and there was nothing he could do about it.
As I was leaving the court, I noticed Gertrude glaring at me angrily. Before getting into the car, I simply stuck out my tongue at her, like a child.
"Keep an eye out for any suspicious activities," I said as soon as I got in the car.
I couldn't put my trust in Gertrude's gaze. Although she had divorced her husband, I was certain that her love for him remained, and now that she knows I was involved in all of this, she will undoubtedly take action.
"How about we just bring her to you for a chat? The godmother wants us to bring you to Jowell as soon as the case is solved!"
Clark's idea was feasible.
"Sure, go ahead and set a meeting for us!" she says, rather than waiting for the beast to attack.
I had no intention of killing Gertrude or making life difficult for her. She had already lost what she valued the most, and this was sufficient judgment and punishment for her.
"Set a meeting with Mike first, then I will see Gertrude. The sooner the better," I suggested to Clark.
"I'll get to it right away."
With Mike in jail, I thought my vengeance was finally complete. Although I did not personally send him to prison, seeing him there serving a sentence for all of his crimes made me happy.
The next day, Clark drove me to ***** prison, where Mike was serving his life sentence, and because I had the privilege, I met him alone, without any guards or CCTV cameras watching us.
My bodyguards were patiently waiting outside, but it was pointless because they handcuffed Mike to the chair; both his hands and legs were cuffed, leaving him with nowhere to go.
We both stared at each other without saying anything. I could tell by his eyes that he wasn't convinced; he was angry, and he was probably cursing me to death.
"What brings you here? Are you here to mock and mock me?" He finally broke the silence with a mocking question.
"I am not here to play games with you," I shook my head, denying this with a flat expression, "I thought I should at least inform you of the reason you are in this situation today."
Since the man was in jail and handcuffed, it was time for him to find out why I hadn't done everything.
Mike's eyes betrayed him because he wasn't expecting me to say this. He was furious, however, when he heard me admit with my mouth that I had something to do with what was happening to him right now.
"Did you do this to me? But why is this so? I never treated you badly, and Gertrude's cheating and humiliation are not my faults."
"For once, you are astute. How could something so insignificant break me down? A man of your stature would never be faithful to a woman."
I sighed as I remembered how cocky this man used to be in the beginning.
"Just tell me right now!" he yelled, making me laugh mockingly.
"What's the point of being so angry at me? Things aren't going to change!" I made fun of him by adjusting my sitting position.
'They should have provided me with a more comfortable chair. What is this steel chair that hurts one's ass like this?' I couldn't help but curse inwardly as I felt uncomfortable in the chair, I was sitting in.
"You........ I'll get you for this!"
"You won't ever get me, dear, trust me on this one," I said as I waved my hands at him, dismissing his unattainable thoughts, "anyway, I was about to explain why we've come here. And by the end, I hope you will sincerely repent, seek forgiveness, and atone for your sins."
I didn't want to waste any more time. The prison was not a place where one could stay for an extended period. The atmosphere was terrible, and perhaps because this was a maximum-security prison, something about it made her feel eerie, and I didn't like it at all.
'I hope you truly repent for your sins because otherwise I will never forgive you and will punish you in ways you could never imagine.'
