L/N Y/N ; THIRD PERSON ; Y/N'S HOUSE ; 1:27AM

y/n was at home. it's been a few days since the workbook bet. they haven't gone on with the deal yet because they were waiting for a chance that they would both be free for the whole day.

currently, y/n was sat in her room watching a drama on her tv with quanrui and lingxin.

ollie and his new friend yujin were in the living room, playing video games. yujin was sleeping over, ollie's first sleepover in a while.

the episode was reaching its climax when the doorbell suddenly rung.

"who's here at 1:30 in the morning?" quanrui asked, looking out y/n's open bedroom door.

y/n paused the drama, and quickly, ollie came running in.

"jie, ge, someone keeps knocking on the door." ollie whispered. just then, another ring was heard.

y/n was getting scared and worried now. she ran out the room and down the stairs with the three following behind her.

"yujin, ollie, go to the kitchen and vet a knife. xin, ricky, stay in the living Tom and one of you get the police just in case. don't call them yet but be ready to." y/n instructed, digging through a drawer hear the stairs, looking for her self defence stuff.

if they were actually being attacked, she wanted the others to be as safe as possible so she wouldn't risk fighting them in case there were multiple people.

y/n finally approached the door, self defense things in hand. she had a whole thing of pepper spray, as well as a newly sharpened pocket knife.

as she was looking for these, the knocking on the door became more aggressive and they kept on ringing the bell.

they slowly unlocked the door and swung it open. about to spray, she heard an awfully familiar voice, sobbing.

her arms fell to her sides, bringing them inside, just in case someone actually was after them.

they locked the door, helping them take their shoes off and bringing him into the living room.

"guys, it's fine. it's just my friend." they called out to the children in the kitchen. they came into the living room very soon, empty handed.

"oh! it's the friend that asked about our ages!" ollie realized.

"yeah.. hao? what's wrong?" y/n whispered, sitting the sobbing man on the couch. he looked at the girl and pulled her into a tight hug, crying harder. y/n hugged him back immediately, rubbing his back.

"haohao, what's wrong? are you drunk?" y/n asked quietly, smelling the strong smell coming from her friend.

hao nodded, they could feel it on their shoulder.

"hao, how much did you drink? you have a high alcohol tolerance." they asked, slightly pulling away from the drunk male to look him in the eye, or at least try to.

tears fell from his eyes nonstop and him trying to blink them away did not help at all.

y/n used their thumb to wipe away the tears as they held his face in their hands, doing very little work.

"hao, can you please tell me what's wrong? what happened?" she frowned.

"y-y/n.." he hiccupped.

"I-I went drin-drinking with some-some friends." hao started, sniffling.

"why?" y/n asked gently, wiping away more of his tears.

"i-i called m-my parent-parents," he sobbed, "and-and th-they were tell-telling me how m-m-much," hao hiccupped again. "they were telling me h-how much of a d-dis-disappointment I am to th-them.." he finally said, starting to sob again.

y/n gasped, pulling him back into a hug.

"th-they said that- that I need to do b-better if I wan-want them to be pr-proud of me. even th-though I get straight As a-and am o-one of the top st-students, they- they said I'm still not good enough for them.." hao cried.

"hao.." y/n whispered. she let go of him again and held his face in her hands.

"haohao, you don't have to listen to them. no one is perfect, and no one is good enough for parents like ours. you're perfect just the way you are. you are loved and you'll always be loved by me and the others. theres nowhere else to go when you're already at the top, hao. you don't need your parents validation to do what you want, or to feel like you're enough, because you're more than enough. zhang hao. you're one of the most perfect people to ever exist, you're a perfect friend, student, person, everything. you don't need yoir parents to tell you that you're a disappointment or a disgrace, you're literally so fucking successful too! you're in one of the most prestigious universities in the whole country, you're a fucking music teacher, you're the top student, you're talented in almost everything, you're popular, hao, you're literally so damn successful. you're literally perfect, hao, and that makes you an amazing person who isn't a disgrace or a disappointment. instead, your parents should be proud to have you as their son." y/n told him, tearing up as they did so.

hearing all this, hao started sobbing loudly.

"n/n!" he cried, pulling her into yet another hug. y/n had a small smile on her face as she silently cried as they hugged.

"hao, always remember that you're way more than enough and that you should be proud of yourself. you don't need anyone but yourself to feel validated." y/n whispered, wiping away her tears with her hands.

when the two actually let go of each other, ollie and yujin ran towards hao and pulled him into a tiny group hug.

"hao-gege." ollie cried, giving the older male a tight hug. both ollie and yujin were crying because of what hao said, then started crying even more when y/n was talking to him.

y/n smiled, happy that her friends were getting along and actually sympathizing with each other.

"hao, stay over tonight. theres no way I'm sending you back with you looking like this. you'll also have the worst headache ever later when you wake up and I won't let you deal with that alone." y/n told him quietly when the two children let go of their hug.

hao sniffled and nodded, rubbing his eyes.

for the rest of the night, y/n and the shen's were busy taking care of hao and the children in the living room, ending with them all falling asleep against each other.
