Dandelions - a million wishes

Chapter 1

In the cold winds of Kashmir, sipping a hot coffee and he went through a huge list of captains required for an upcoming mission. "this damn weather is enough to kill me" muttered a shivering Shravan who is now a major of Dhar regiment.

"What the hell barbie doll! If you don't take care of yourself then not sorry I've to get you killed" he remembered the words from his ex girlfriend whom he broke up with 7 years ago.
It's been 7 years... all these years he tried to live without her. His mind might forget but his heart still remembers her.

The day when he left her alone crying is always a nightmare for him. He wished to be with her but she asked him to leave and dire circumstances made him leave forever with a broken heart.

He wished to be with her
He wished to enjoy sunrise and sunset with her
He wished to marry her
He wished to play with their children with her
He wished to grow old with her
A million wishes remained unfulfilled

"I miss her, I still do. " he let out a sigh with closed eyes

"Basi, get me another cup of hot coffee" ordered Shravan with a soar throat.
"Buddy, you okay?" asked a concerned Basi. "I don't know, this cold weather is making me sick. just leave it, I'll take a pill. It will make me feel better."

Basi is Shravan's only best friend in Dhar regiment. He too is a major and have been with him during good and bad times.

"Maybe you should get an appointment with a doctor MM" said Basi
"Chill buddy, it's just a weather change sickness. It will go after getting a proper treatment"
"Okay, hot coffee and a pill is a super proper treatment and will make you feel better dude? You're like a 5-year-old kid who refuses to see a doctor thinking you'll get injected" replied his best friend Basi

"Injected?"
"let me guess.. Are you scared of needles buddy?" asked Basi with a laugh
"yeah" with a pause "I'm scared of needles since...since childhood" replied Shravan with a sad chuckle

His school days.... His failed attempts to impress Suman and to prick a needle in his arm for a blood donation camp. Him donating blood helped to bring his Sumo closer after a huge misunderstanding created by Aneesh, Devika, and the gang.

"Hello, hello MM" Basi waves a hand in front of Shravan's face
"Major Malhotra!!" shouted Basi
"What?!" asked a panicked Shravan who was lost in his thoughts few seconds ago
"Nothing, okay this is funny" Basi laughs
"you're such an asshole" commented Shravan
"always and thankeww"

"I want chocolate"
"No, I want strawberry "
"I guess Vanilla looks yum"
"Shravan, I want all 3! Vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate" ordered school-going Suman
"You know what Sumo, I'll buy you this whole ice cream parlor"
"Aww! You are cute, but I don't want to fall sick" Suman replied
"You don't want to fall sick and you want 3, especially during this rainy season?"
"fine, I want 3 together in one cone" ordered Suman to parlor uncle
"Okay then! Sumo special ice cream for me & you"
Little kids have ice cream and little Suman pushes his ice cream onto his nose which made him look like a joker
"Hahaha, clown!" commented Suman
"SUMO!!!!" shouted Shravan "You wait there"
Laughing Suman runs and he too runs behind to catch her.
"you can't catch me buddhu" said a running Suman turning her head backward without seeing what was in front

Suman slips on a slippery wet road and ends up hurting her knees

"SUMO!!!!!!!!!" shouted a panicked Shravan

"Sumo Sumo Sumo"
Basi run towards an unconscious Shravan laying on his office chair
"Shit man, it looks like you have a high fever"

"He was fine just a few minutes ago when I met him, what made him soo sick"
Shravan's assistant entered inside the office with a hot water flask
"Major Basi, he just had an ice cream a moment ago. I've tried to stop him but still he refused to listen" said his assistant
"What the?... Who gave it to him?"
"Mittu"

Mittu is a 4-year-old boy, Son of Shravan's colleague. He often comes to his office to talk and play. Shravan treats him as his little best friend as he loves kids.

Flashback

"Mickey!" shouted little Mittu
"Hey.. Champ"
Shravan makes little one sit on his lap.
"What happened best friend? Your voice kind of changed.. Are you sick?" asked concerned Mittu
"Sick? Your handsome Mickey will never fall sick."

Shravan notices two little sealed cups on little boy's hands
"What's this champ?" he points on two little cups with his index finger
"Ice cream"
"Yummy! Which flavor it is?" asked Shravan in a childish tone
"It's a new flavor mickey" replied little boy
"Your mickey mouse wants to know"
"it's chocolate, vanilla and strawberry mix"
"Sumo special" Shravan murmurs unknowingly
"What's Sumo, Mickey?"

"Nothing" he lied "come on, let's have this yummy ice cream" Shravan changes the topic
"But you've got a bad throat"
"I told you champ, your Mickey is super strong" said Shravan with a sad smile

End of the flashback

"you know what Khansab! MM is mad! " said a pissed Basi

Basi calls army doctor to treat Shravan who is laying on a bed inside medical wing.
Their army doctor is currently on a leave which made Basi call his cousin who is an army doctor

Few moments later

"Come fast Shraddha and don't forget to carry my first aid bag"
"Yes ma'am" replied assistant shraddha
They sat inside their jeep and leaves AMC compound

Fresh cold familiar winds touch Suman's skin as she reached the Dhar camp

"Why are you late Simsim jee?"
"Snow monster blocked my way Ali baba!" replied Suman "now tell me where's the patient?"
