Matteo Riddle x Reader

The first class to roll around is potions, of course.  All the students gather to the side, not wanting to bother sitting down since they will be told where to sit anyway.  Y/N glances around the room, finding Hermione.  She smirks slightly, one that is barely visible.

Snape begins reading the names out, "Potter and Weasley.  Longbottom and Finnegan.  Smith and Malfoy.  Greengrass and Parkinson.  Cara and Granger".

Bingo.  Y/N puts on her best fake smile, taking the seat beside the bushy haired girl.  The two get to work quickly.  Luckily for Y/N, having to hang out with Hermione won't put a hinder on her grades, seeing as her and Hermione are both top of their class.

"It's actually really refreshing to work with someone who knows what they're doing," Hermione smiles.

"I know right," Y/N giggles.  "I'm usually with Theo.  I love that boy, but he is so bad at potions".

"Ron and Harry are as well," Hermione says.

Everything is going according to plan.  That is until Transfigurations rolls around.

"I am assigning you all an essay," McGonagall says, causing all the students to groan.  She waits for them to settle down.  "I will be assigning your partners.  It is due next Monday.  Write about your favorite transfiguration spells and why".

Transfiguration is actually Y/N's worst subject.  Well, she doesn't really have a worst subject, she excels at everything.  But it is definitely the one she struggles with the most.

"Your partners are as follows," McGonagall starts again.  "Potter and Granger.  Weasley and Longbottom.  Malfoy and Greengrass.  Parkinson and Nott.  Smith and Cara".

Y/N's eyes widen slightly, suddenly growing both anxious and annoyed at the same time.  She glances to a few rows behind her, finding Matteo to already be smirking at her.  She scowls quietly, rolling her eyes.

"You have the rest of the class period, and the class on Wednesday to meet with your partners and work," McGonagall dismisses.

"Hello darling".

Y/N tenses at the sound of his voice, mentally rolling her eyes, "Don't call me that, Smith".

"You know, you don't know me very well.  I could quite possibly be the most powerful wizard here and you wouldn't even know it.  You don't know who you're messing with," he rolls his eyes back, sitting down.

"Nor do you," Y/N crosses her arms, not thinking anything about his threat.

"Can we just get this stupid paper over with as soon as possible?  And then we won't have to work together anymore," Matteo sighs.

"Sounds like a plan to me," Y/N rolls her eyes.

The two begin working, actually finishing fairly quickly.  Maybe Matteo isn't as stupid as she thought.

Next, defense against the dark arts.  One of Y/N's favorite classes.  But not this year, not with Professor Umbridge.  She finds the woman to be intolerable and dare she say more evil than Voldemort.

"Hey Hermione!" Y/N catches up to the bushy haired girl after class.

"Hi Y/N," Hermione gives a small smile.

Perfect, on a first name basis already.

"Would you want to go to Hogsmeade with me on Wednesday?  During Transfigurations?  Matteo and I already finished our paper and I assume you have as well," Y/N questions.

"I have, yes.  With little help from Ron," Hermione rolls her eyes.  "But sure, that sounds lovely!"

"Great, see you then," Y/N smiles, turning away.  The smile immediately leaves her face once the girl can't see her anymore.
