Britt woke up to banging on her front door. As she checked her security system she could see someone trying to get in. Just as she hit the button to call the police she could see them achieving their goal. Her heart dropped into her stomach, she should've let her friends stay the night as they normally did and she wouldn't have been alone.

Quietly she slipped from the bed and without any hesitation went towards the open window she had in her bedroom. Just as her feet hit the grass she could hear the burglars enter her room. She started running right as they noticed her.

"Go get her!" She knew they weren't after the things in her house. They were after her. Britt sprinted towards her neighbors house thankful of the fact that the house had just recently become occupied. As she banged on the door she looked over her shoulder seeing a large man running towards her. Her banging became frantic and she nearly teared up at the sight of a light turning on behind her.

The heavy door swung open and Britt was greeted by a shirtless man who had a hockey stick in hand. Almost immediately she saw his expression change from angry to concerned.

"I-P—Help!" She could barely get a sentence together as she knew the burglar would be approaching. He looked at her before looking at the other man who was approaching. Carefully he stepped between the flustered woman and the menacing man.

"Can I help ya?" She knew almost immediately that her new neighbor wasn't from Florida. The accent didn't match.

"I just came to visit my friend." The reply was cool as the man stayed out of the light of the porch.

"Pretty sure you've got the wrong house." He could see the other man's lips purse at his words.

"My friends right behind you so I don't think I do." Britt saw her neighbors grip on the long stick tighten. It was at that moment she knew she made the right choice coming over here rather than to her elderly neighbors house.

"Pretty sure she's not your friend." The man in the hood tsked as he flashed a knife towards the other man. "Bringing a tiny knife to a street fight.... Think that's smart man?"

"Such big words coming from a small guy." At that moment Britt didn't care that the man in front of her was a mere few inches taller than her. She would bet on him any day in that fight.

"I've always said the bigger they are the harder they fall... So how hard would you like to fall today?" Before the other man could even take a step forward they heard sirens approaching. The man took off and Britt saw her neighbor hesitate before he went after the guy. He might have been shorter but damn was he faster. A few strides and a perfect tackle were all it took before he had the guy on the ground and the police were taking him into custody. By the time her neighbor had brushed himself off she was being spoken to by the police.

As Britt told the officer her story she could see him go and sit on the steps of his porch. An officer approached him and she stopped watching knowing he would be doing the same thing as her. By the time the police had cleared out it was nearing three in the morning.

"You alright?" He asked as he carefully approached her. He could see the fact that she was still pretty shaken from it all.

"I-I'm sorry." Britt said quietly. He shook his head.

"Don't ever be sorry for that. I'd do that again in a second." His hand hesitantly stuck out towards her. "Since we haven't had a chance to properly meet, my names Alex." She ignored his handshake and pulled him into a quick hug. He hesitated slightly before returning it. He was never one for hugs.

"Brittney, and thank you. Seriously, thank you." He chuckled.

"Like I said it was not a big deal and if you ever need me to do that again I will." His eyes met hers before he could see her shiver. "I-Are you going to be okay tonight?"
