Running

My throat dried up when I heard Zoe's voice, but her aura was different. Like she wasn't Zoe at all, but someone who looks like her. After a few seconds her smirk disappeared and she started sobbing again and ran to me and hugged me.

I was shocked. No, shocked is an understatement I'm horrified. "Get off of me you monster!" I screamed, trying to push her away.

She moved away with tears in her eyes. "Wh-wh-what? What do y-yo-you me-mean?" Suddenly her facial expression changed she turned to the monster she was before.

"Why don't you hug me Little May?"

I started moving back, only to hit my back on the wall. She started walking towards me. With no other choice, I ran, ran as fast as I could. I frantically opened the door and ran. The lights were off, they were not automatically turning on like they would. But I didn't care. I ran, ran like my whole life depended on it.

When I couldn't hear any footsteps, I hid behind a wall panting. It was hard to breathe since I ran a lot.

Suddenly the lights turned on. And I saw her standing next to me with a smile. I scream as loud as I could so I could wake everyone up.

"No one can hear your cries Little May. Only I can." And then she laughed, laughed so loud. It sent shivers down my spine.

"L-l-leave me alone!" And when she let her guard down. I pushed her onto the ground and ran. I knew running wouldn't do much, but I didn't care.

I saw the staircase door and ran, almost tripping over the stairs. I know I was shouting at myself for keeping myself calm, but I just can't okay? Not when your possessed best friend is trying to kill you.

"Oh Little May, why are you running away from me even though it's useless?" And then she appeared in front of me. I fell down the stairs, and my leg got trapped in between the railing.

How? Why? Those were the questions in my head as I screamed in pain from my leg hurting so bad.

Suddenly she disappeared and then I felt her behind me. I didn't look back, I didn't want to see my best friend possessed. I just couldn't, it broke my heart.

She watched me as I struggled to pull my leg out. And then when I finally got it out, I tried to stand up but then I felt a sharp pain through the ankle that was stuck in the railing. I held the railing like my life depended on it.

"Why don't you give up already and accept your fate Little May?" She said trying to stop me from running around. "M-may! Please run! Go away! Leave me! Forget your best friend May!" It made my heart stop. She wanted me to run. She wanted me to go, but I can't leave her. "GO! NOW!" And then her neck got twisted and she fell to the ground. I felt the tears sting my eyes and blur my vision.

I ran like she told me to. I'll fulfill her wishes, even though it hurts. I ran while sobbing uncontrollably. Out of nowhere something which felt like wind pushed me back to the wall, and I hit my back. "Ow!" My body hurt, but I had to go. I tried moving, and then suddenly the same man who helped us unlock the door came towards me. "Help me! Please! There is an unknown spirit which possessed my friend. Please! Help!" I cried.

He bent down next to me and whispered in my ear. "Well, Little May, unfortunately that unknown spirit is standing in front of you." And then he stabbed me in the abdomen.

"Fuck! Why!?" I screamed. Before he could stab me again, I got up and used all my strength to run. I was loosing blood but if I got out fast I could do it.

I ran down the stairs, and then the door came into view. I pushed as hard as I could but it didn't budge. I could hear the footsteps coming closer, so I did one big push.

The door opened! I ran into the reception desk only to see no one there. But I didn't care, I ran as fast as I could to reach the main entrance. As the main entrance came into view, suddenly someone came in front of me grabbed me by the neck. I looked down and saw him, but he looked different. He had blood all over him, his hair was really messy and he had his signature smirk on as he choked me.

I kicked the air frantically trying to make him let go of my grip and he just laughed at my attempts. It made me mad, really mad to see that he was laughing. So I used as much strength I had left and did a big swing hitting him hard.

He let go of his grip, and I took the opportunity to run. I reach the door and tried pushing but it didn't budge. Then suddenly, he started laughing like a maniac.

"Little May thought she could actually escape. Now give up already and be my meal!" He was running towards me, I don't want to surrender. Zoe sacrificed herself for me and I will escape. So I didn't waste time and ran towards the stairs, skipping stairs and I saw it.

The basement door. I knew there has to be cars, so my new escape plan. I pushed the door, and it opened! That's a good sign. I saw a car. My new escape route.

I ran towards it and it wasn't locked, I didn't think further and got in the car. I saw the keys so I took it and started the car. The barrier gate was closed but I didn't care. The car will go through it.

I put my foot on the accelerator, and made it go as fast as I could, but.

The car suddenly stopped, and I felt his presence in the back seat.

"Thought I was gonna let you go easily Little May? No way! This was part of my plan. I knew you would come here. So I thought why not let you keep your hopes up. Poor Little May."

My whole body was shocked. I felt defeated. I felt miserable. I made my friend sacrifice herself for nothing. I had an idea!

I looked around for something that I could hit him with and then I decided to stall for time. "Fine! You got me, but I have a question." I'll find something, I have to.

"Okay. Since you're dying anyways, I'll answer your stupid question. What is it?"

"Since you know my name, I guess it's only fair that I know yours. And don't bother lying. I know when a person lies."

"My name is Henry. Now time for you to say good bye Little May. I must say, you've been the most fun to kill." I realized there wasn't anything I could hit him with, so I gave up.

And then he slit my throat. Well I was going to die one day, but it just happened to be early. But I didn't mind since I was going to be reunited with my best friend. Good bye world.
