Starting with the Gauri Ganesh Puja, Kalash Puja, and Punyaha Vachanam, Namkaran Puja is followed by the chanting of sacred mantras, so as to bless the baby.
Furthermore, the Pandit places turmeric, lentils, moong dal & betel leaves on the cloth which are kept with the horoscope of the child in front of the image of the deity.
Later, the name of the child is whispered in the right ear of the baby using a betel leaf along with the chanting of mantras. Additionally, Graha Shanti is also performed in the name of the baby
