"All these fucking people over here and no food? What type of shit is this?" Capri smacked her teeth, closing the fridge.
In all actuality the fridge wasn't empty, but she had a specific taste for some fries which obviously were not in there.
Against her better judgement, Capri grabbed her keys and waddled out the front door with her almost thirty week belly, being sure to grab her phone since she knew it was only a matter of time before David would wake up to her absence presence.
Saying a silent thank you that they weren't in New York with the below freezing temperatures, and instead in California wear the night air only hit around 60°, totally incomparable to what she was used to.
Hopping in Daves Cadillac, she cranked it up and started making her way to McDonalds. The one near their house always had good fries and those were the only place she wanted them from at the moment.
All in all, it took about ten minutes to get there and she sat in line for another six while they fried her fries fresh just like she'd asked.
As she waited, she got a call from Dave which she answered.
"Hello?" She smiled, hearing him clear his throat on the other side of the line.
"Fat ma. Where you at?" He rasped.
"Um, I went to the McDonalds up the street." She looked towards the service menu, seeing the employee walk towards the window with her bag and McFlurry in hand.
"Why didn't you wake me up? You ain't supposed to do that by yourself, Aalani." He huffed, turning on the lamp on the nightstand.
"I'm a grown ass woman. I can go get food if I'm hungry." Capri frowned, pulling out the line after checking her bag.
"I get that, but what I always tell you?" He sighed, now fulling awake and alert. He had a bad feeling in his stomach, but he didn't want to say anything.
"You got me." She responded, stopping at a red light. Looking in her rear view mirror seeing headlights behind her.
"Exactly," He spoke as she pulled off. "All them cravings and shit included. We been going together all this time, what made it different tonight?" He asked.
"I was already downstairs and I didn't want to wake you. I know you got me, but sometimes it feels inconsiderate," She made a turn onto a backroad, one she grew familiar with and took as a shortcut to their house.
They hadn't fully moved out to California, but they were both opening up shops in the state, so they got a place out here as well.
They also figured California could be their brief new start. Ever since they moved in early November, the messages and harassment stopped, now being just over a month since the last time they heard from Esco, but still no sign of him.
