A/N: This is a sequel to Secrets Out.
People told you that the love you have for your child is like no other and you never fully believed them. Surely the love is the same you would have for your husband, wife, mother or father. Oh how you were wrong.
The love you felt when you held your daughter for the first time was indescribable. Christen's birth was straight forward with no complications. Both you and her mother were in the mood when the baby was born. The asked if you wanted to cut the umbilical cord and you panicked, even asking if it would hurt the newborn. Your reaction brought laughter to the room. Stacey gently placed a hand on your shoulder to tell you that she wouldn't feel a thing but still you made her promise.
You and Christen decided to move to LA for the last couple of months of the pregnancy and that she would have the baby there. This way you knew that she had her family when you were still playing with the royals and then the press clan would be there for the both of you once the baby was born.
It was something that you would be forever grateful for. Each member played a role during the first couple of months. Whilst you and Christen was determined to do most things, you especially wanted to do the night feeds so that your wife could sleep. During the day you and christen would be able to relax and rest as Cody took your daughter for a walk around the neighbourhood after her morning feed, Stacy would read to her in the afternoon and Tyler and Channing spent as much time with her as they could, both of them knowing that they wouldn't see her as often when you went back to Utah.
After 2 months, you and Christen decided it was time for your family to finally go home. With a bittersweet goodbye the three of you boarded the plane for the 2 hour flight.
A couple of weeks ago Tobin texted you to ask if she could through you and Christen a welcome home party. She knew better than to try and keep it from you so she settled on surprising her best friend instead. Tobin told you that several of the national team wanted to be there for your homecoming, you happily complied having missed your best friends dearly.
As you pulled onto your drive you took your time getting your daughter out of the car as Christen collected some of the bags from the boot before opening the front door.
You could only have been a meter away, you daughter comfortably in her car seat when you heard them.
"Welcome home"
Christen turns to look at you, tears on the verge of falling, you know what she wants or more like who she wants so you happily give her the car seat.
Once in the house, your team mates crowd your wife and daughter. You never thought this would happen, you never expected to have a family of your own, especially whilst you were still playing soccer but Christen soon changed that.
You let them have their moment as you get the rest of the bags from the car. You take refuge in the kitchen whilst almost everyone else is the living room. The open floor plan allowing you to watch from a distance.
"I've never seen her this happy" Tobin tells you.
You couldn't agree with her more. Christen took to motherhood like a duck to water, you had never seen anymore more made for this than her. At times it made you feel inadequate but she always told you that you are an amazing mama to your baby girl and with each passing day you started to believe her.
"I wish I could take all the credit but I have nothing to do with it. That is all the little ones doing"
Tobin looks at you, how after all this time could you not see just how happy you make Christen.
"It isn't just her, you make her happy too"
You feel your cheeks heat up at the compliment.
"Thank you" Tobin wraps one of her arms around you shoulder "I never thought anyone would be good enough for her but you, you are the best thing to happen to her"
