Atem
A soft piano began to play as I stood there shaking, "Breathe Atem, you're fine." I thought to myself. I looked up at the lyrics as they started changing color as they were suppose to be sung.

" Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more..." My breathe shook and a much stronger voice stepped in. I looked over, Solis smiled softly as she met my eyes and gave a wink.
"You can do this Atem." I thought as the music continued.

"Time stands still
Beauty in all she is    ("Indeed she is beautiful." I thought.)
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath, every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh
I love you for a thousand more
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more"

The song finished, the piano quietly fading away, the crowd burst into applause. Solis bowed and waved her hand at me, which made them get even more excited. I too bowed and gave a nod to Yugi and Mokuba. They cheered the loudest, Solis gave me a warm smile, if only I could catch one and always keep it with me.
"Shall we take a seat?" She asked.
"Sure." We rejoined the crowd as others swarmed in to sing their own songs.

Solis said nothing more the rest of class, Mrs. Rushford however, waved me over.
"Have you considered auditioning?" She asked.
"Maybe, I hadn't decided." I wondered if this was the best answer.
"Well think about it, a solo and definitely a duet. Especially with a certain charmer." She smiled, nodding her head at Solis, who had laid her head back and was studying the ceiling.
"Perhaps." I smiled.

After School
"Are you gonna do it?" Yugi asked.
"Yeah, Solis you in?" I turned to the golden haired girl. I smiled, gently lifting it all up as she tried to scrabble it into a ponytail.
"Yeah." She sighed giving up and I took the hair tie, "Better?"
"Much."
"I think I'm sitting this one out. I like Chorus, but I don't know about this solo stuff." Mokuba wrinkled his nose.
"Me too." Yugi agreed, "Duel Monsters is a bit more my style."

Solis and I bade goodbye to our friends as we headed for the auditorium.
"So what are we singing for these auditions?" I asked.
"What ever she wants us to sing. She'll probably randomly pick duet pairs." Solis waved it off, "I do this every time and never get nothing."
"Maybe you'll get something this time." I told her, trying to be positive.
"Really don't mind the sidelines." She said as we went in.
"I wish someone other than me would see you." I thought, "I wish I knew how to help you."

I felt Solis' strong voice wash over me. Much like earlier, she hid away everything that made her who she was. And everything that hurt her was winning.
"I'll always be here for you Solis, even if its only in spirit." I whispered. "Ra, please bring her home."
