Part Twenty Four-On the Horizon

Walking through the dorm hallways, I jaunt my way over to Sugiyama's room real quick to drop off some class notes that he lent me before I go and wake up Mei for school. Knocking on his door, I hear some scrambling behind it before it cracks open a bit. With what I'm able to see inside, I notice a drawn poster taped to the wall of a familiar spider logo.

"Huh...surely that can't be what I think it is..." I think as I continue to look at it

"O-Oh, M-Miyamoto. What b-brings you here this early?" Sugiyama stammers

"Right!" I say, snapping my attention back to him, "I just wanted to return your class notes to you before school started. Thanks again by the way, I've been a bit behind lately..." I say

"I-It's no problem! I-If you don't mind me asking, it was rather unusual of you to be behind on notes. W-Was anything wrong?" He timidly asks

"Yeah, you could say that...But I'm all good now, just had to sort some stuff out, uh, mentally" I respond

"Th-That's good...I-It was weird seeing you all mean to Hatsume like that" he says

"Anyways! Thanks again, if there's anything you need help with, feel free to let me know" I offer

"W-Well actually, you're the best in the class when it comes to chemistry, s-so do you mind helping me out with something real quick?" He asks

"Well I wouldn't say the best, but I'll see what I can do" I accept

He closes the door again and I hear what sounds to be like a chain lock unlock before he fully opens it again. Now being able to get a full look at his room, I stand there frozen for a moment as I stare in awe at all of the Spider-Man memorabilia that he owns. From figures, to posters, to stuffed animals, it's quite baffling how much money I'm missing out on with this merchandise if I'm being honest...

"Wow...you must really like Spider-Man, huh?" I ask as I follow him inside

"Y-Yeah, I don't really talk about it since I don't want people to think I'm weird...But I'm a huge fan! He's just so...inspirational! I-It's because of him I was able to gather the courage to even apply for U.A" he tells me

I notice that his eyes light up as he talks about Spider-Man some more, I smile a bit at the scene as I glance down at my spinnerets for a moment.

"Yeah...he can be pretty cool sometimes, huh?" I say

"I-I'm so sorry, I got distracted! A-Anyways, if you'll just come and take a look here I'll show you what I'm working on" he says

He leads me over to a large tank where inside houses an emerald green lizard that's currently basking in the heated lamp.

"Huh, I didn't know we could have pets. I should bring in my ant farm from back home" I joke as I observe the lizard

"O-Oh he's not my pet! I-I'm actually studying him for my research. I believe that by using the DNA properties of lizards that are able to regrow their limbs, I theoretically could make a sort of serum that could regrow even human limbs" he explains to me
