The Féinics family were one of the only Pureblood families that were around since the days of Merlin himself.

They were esteemed, cultured, and powerful. For many generations the Féinics women carried the traits of the Phoenix. The red flaming wings, the crimson eyes, the fire within. These were all passed down from mother to daughter for thousands of years.

The current Heiress to the Féinics fortune, was Edith Féinics. A girl with flaming red hair and an attitude to match.

She was outgoing, constantly inspired, and constantly into mischief with a boy she'd been befriended with since she was a girl. James Potter, who was Heir to his own fortune.

Their families lived across from one another, the two having been attached at the hip since birth. Though as they got older it seemed rather unsightly for a man and woman of their age to be so close, neither cared. Their affections were strictly platonic. They two pureblood heirs even made a pact when they were small.

If they can't find suitable matches, their true loves, they'd simply marry one another and live out their days with their best friend.

Of course, The Daily Prophet had much to say about them, claiming they were the best match in all of Wizarding London. The two found it hilarious as they showed no affection in that sense. Other than a possible drunken kiss during the first ball they were allowed champagne in. (They were disgusted by it afterwords and vowed never to speak of it again.)

When Edith turned 16, James went away for boarding school. Witches weren't allowed proper schooling, leaving Edith to her many many books. James would write very often, telling her different things he'd learned and things for her to research.

When he returned in the spring, just in time for the debutante ball, she was ever so excited. She'd gone months without her best friend. He'd decided to not come home for the holidays as he'd made a group of new friends.

She all but ran over to Potter Manor, rapping her hand on the large wooden door as soon as she stood in front of it.

Their house elf, Berry, opened the door with a large smile on her face. She was a free elf, as all the Potter elves were. They were all paid and allowed vacations and very well treated. "Mistress Féinics! Berry was wondering when the Mistress would be by. Master James has been home for two hours!"

Edith smiled down at the elf. "Hello Berry. Might i go see him? Is he busy?"

"Master James is in his chambers with his friend, Master Sirius. He has much to tell the Mistress."
