After Sarah had a fun chase with Conrad to the boardwalk, which she clearly won, they both decided to head back to the Summer House. However, as soon as they did, Conrad's hangover really started to kick in.
No one in the house was awake yet.
Sarah walked up the stairs and entered her room, falling straight onto her bed. She turned onto her stomach, resting her head on the comforter for a moment before letting out a muffled groan.
Conrad was the cause of her conflicting emotions.
Every time she saw him, she couldn't quite explain her feelings. Sometimes she felt happy, excited, mad and sad.
She felt happy whenever she was with him and when he interacted with her family. She got excited because he surprised her. She felt mad when he ignored her, especially when he was busy texting while they were talking.
And lastly, she felt sad because she knew he was already in a committed relationship.
On the other hand, he had become a significant part of her life. He always inspired her to do her best.
He was like a brother because they argued over every little thing and had disagreements. And he was like a best friend who had always been there for her, never abandoning her in her highs and lows.
With Sarah's thoughts racing, she decided to close her eyes and let sleep take over.

Later that morning, Sarah sat up in bed, eyeing the white envelope on her nightstand. Contemplating whether to accept or decline the invitation to the debutante ball, she reached for a pen and opened the envelope.
Inside was a small card with the options 'accept with pleasure' and 'decline with pleasure' printed on it. After a moment of hesitation, Sarah decisively checked the box next to 'accept with pleasure.'
What's life without a little risk?
With her decision made, Sarah left her room and made her way downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast
When she entered the kitchen, she found Jeremiah cooking breakfast while Liam and Steven hovered over his shoulder. Laurel was seated at the island, engrossed in her laptop. Jackie sat next to her, reading the newspaper, and Conrad was sprawled on the couch in the living room with a massive hangover.
"Do we really have to physically sit for our portraits? Can't she just, like, look at a picture on her phone or something?" Jeremiah wondered, then turned to Liam and Steven, gesturing towards the door. "Alright, you two, out."
Steven chuckled. "What? Why?"
"She needs to see you in the flesh in order to capture your essence. While you're still young and full of hope." Laurel explained, not looking up from her laptop. Jeremiah, Steven and Liam turned to look at her with raised eyebrows. "Her words."
