The funeral was held in a field on the cliff sides near the Red Keep. Members of the noble houses that had celebrated with the Royal family yesterday now grieved with the father and daughters. Bloodshot eyes took in the pile of sticks and logs, the final resting place for Vaella's mother and brother.

"They're waiting for one of you," Daemon whispered, though neither Vaella nor Rhaenyra looked back at him. Their gazes remained locked on the wrapped-up corpse of their mother.

"Nyke pendagon lo, per lī dorolvie horae issa lēkia glaesagon, issa kepa postremo sero biarves." Rhaenyra spat. I wonder if, during those few hours my brother lived, my father finally found happiness.

Vaella tore her gaze away from her mother's body to look to her father. Her eyes narrowed at the sad look he wore. Vaella and Rhaenyra had been told Aemma had died during childbirth and nothing more, but Vaella had heard the servant's whispers when they thought none were around to hear. And they spoke of a mother sliced open and a babe ripped from her womb while she cried for mercy, screamed for them to stop. Vaella looked back to her younger sister, reaching out to take Rhaenyra's hand in hers.

"Aōha kepa jorrāelagon ao," Daemon argued. "Tolī sir quam ziry mirre emagon." Your father needs you, more now then he ever has.

"Nyke jāhor dōrī sagon nykeā tresy." Rhaenyra muttered she glanced at where Viserys stood, and something seemed to harden within her at the image of her father. I will never be a son.

"Daorun vtinam emagon mutatum." Vaella whispered back. Nothing would have changed.

Vaella took a deep breath and squeezed Rhaenyra's hand before stepping forward. Daorys perked up as he smelt his rider nearing, chittering in greeting. Pale scales glimmered with an iridescent sheen in the sunlight. He tilted his head and narrowed his red eyes, squinting to see his rider.

"Daorys, māzīs." Vaella directed. Daorys, come.

The ground thudded as the large dragon lumbered down the hill. Daorys lowered his long neck, swaying slightly until he lightly bumped into Vaella. The dragon purred softly, rubbing his scaled cheek against Vaella's side. Vaella pushed Daorys's head pointing him in the direction of the pyres.

"Dokimarvose, Daorys," Vaella commanded, the beast stilled waiting to hear what his rider ordered. "Dracarys." Focus, Daorys, breathe fire.

With a roar, fire shot from his mouth, igniting Queen Aemma and Prince Baelon's pyres. Vaella squeezed her eyes shut, not wanting to watch her mother and brother burn to ash. A large mass brushed against her side, and Daorys purred, seeking to comfort his rider. Vaella leaned into the dragon's warmth, scratching at the scales of his cheek. Pink red eyes shut in satisfaction, body rumbling as his purrs grew louder.

"Gevī." Vaella praised, focusing on her dragon. Good.
