Third person's POV

"Have fun in there, loser!"

The eight year old Barbie panicked and slammed at the door of the janitor closet as hard as she could.

"Jake! Let me out!" she shouted, causing him to laugh.

Jake was the school troublemaker. And now he was targeting the "new" girl.
His new prank?

He pushed her and locked her inside the janitor closet.

Barbie dropped to her knees and started sobbing. Now she was going to miss her math class....and the teacher was really strict.
She accepted no "excuses". She was going to call her parents and she'd be kicked out of the school!
Her parents would be so disappointed in her.

She didn't know how much longer she was inside the closet when she heard a knock on the door.

"Hey....who is in there?"

Barbie immediately stood up.

"Please let me out of here," Barbie shouted, "Jake pushed me in here and then locked me inside. I'm going to be late for my class."

"Hang on!"

A minute later the door was opened and she could get a good look at the boy who opened the door.
He was around her age. She remembered seeing him in her class.

He had blonde hair and green-blue eyes. He was wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of black jeans.

"Hey....you okay?" he asked, "You wanna go to the principal's office to report Jake? I know he's a jerk...but this was just too much."

Barbie shook her head timidly and sniffled
"I....I'm fine. It's just....I'm new around here. I moved from Wisconsin so I don't know anyone."

The boy smiled at her warmly.
"Well now you know me. I'd be glad to help you if you need," he replied cheerfully, "By the way my name is Ken Carson."

Then he extended his hand.

"Barbie Roberts," she shook his hand and smiled.

Little did they know that they were going to be best friends....and way more.

"Oops! That was an accident!"

The ten year old girl huffed in irritation and grunted.

"Ugh stop it, Trey!" Barbie raised an eyebrow, "Now my clothes are wet!"

Barbie was heading towards her locker to retrieve her books for the next class when Trey decided it was a good time to prank Barbie.
And he spilled water on her.

The worst part? It was already winter and it was freezing cold outside.

"Hey leave her alone!" Barbie turned her head around and smiled at the sight of her best friend.

Trey scoffed and left.

Ken took off his jacket immediately and placed it over Barbie's shoulder.
"Here.... let's go and get you warmed."

Barbie's eyes went wide in disbelief.

"Ken....It's freezing cold outside," Barbie shook her head, "You need this!"
