Life.

It's a complex formula that everyone seems to mess up. I grew up thinking my life was perfect, being surrounded by wealth and privilege can get you there but in my eyes, it doesn't make the perfect image stay. I believe my life is a mess.

"Honey, you look stunning," my mom says.

"Thank you."

My mom is tall, tan, with blonde hair, and blue eyes. She's 5'6, and doesn't need any effort to look beautiful when she already is. She's got the status of being a lawyer who has never lost a case. The only thing I relate to her in appearance is the hair and eye color.

"Ma fille tu es magnifique," my father says. (French Translation: My daughter you look beautiful.)

"Thank you, dad," I say.

I would say I am a bit closer to my father. he was born in pairs but moved to the States a couple of years after he turned 16. Since I was born he would say things to me in French and as I grew older the language eventually stuck with me.

"Alexandra," my father says sternly.

"Yes Dad," I say. Whenever my father or anyone in my family uses my full name it means two things I'm in trouble or we are about to have a serious conversation.

"Honey, as you know we have a business trip coming up," he states.

"I know."

I hated that they traveled for work all the time. It left me feeling lonely and disconnected from their lives.

I guess that's what happens when you have a mom and dad who both travel for work. One being for law and the other being for medical purposes.

"There will be some rules."

"I know, I know. Don't have any parties, make sure to keep the house clean, and curfew still stays unless it's a weekend."

"Yes but this time we have asked the Sanchez family to look after you," he says.

"Are you saying that I'm gonna be living with them," I say.

"No we just told them about our trip and if you need anything you can always ask them," he says. "Oh and also ember will be coming."

Ember May was my father's parents' maid back in pairs. She is around the age of 65 but doesn't appear to be that physically. Whenever I would go visit my grandparents in pairs she would be the one I would talk to about everything. The only thing is that none of my friends know about her she is something I like to keep private because it resembles how much money I have.

"Wait really," I say surprised.

"Yes, but not for another week or two," he says.

"Oh uh that's great thank you!"
