bold = english

They had all been hanging out for hours.

Jake and Heeseungs australia conversation eventually started to include Jay as he mentioned he was from Seattle meaning he could also speak english.

They also got into a heated game of Mario cart and summer smash bros. Jake thought he was gonna wait but Sunghoon beat him by a landslide. Who knew he was so good at games?

At a little break in their conversation, Jake, who was leaning on Sunghoons shoulder, turned his head up to Sunghoon with a kind smile and a soft voice. "Your friends are amazing." Jake was being completely honest.

They had all been so fun and welcoming. The initial fear of trying to fit in with Sunghoons friends disappeared almost instantly. Jake was glad that Sunghoon had such a solid group of friends. It comforted him knowing that he has people who truly care about him. And it seemed like Sunghoon felt the same way towards them.

All night Jake had been taking secret glances at Sunghoon when Heeseung made a stupid joke or Sunoo and Jungwon started bickering because a huge smile would grace his face or a laugh would bubble out of him. He loved to see Sunghoon so comfortable.

A big grin graced Sunghoon's face as he rubbed Jakes shoulder. "I chose good friends, didn't I?" Jake could feel that that was meant to be a joke, but he took in seriously. "You did hoon."

Their sincere moment was broken by Sunoo's question. "Hey Jakey," That name came out of nowhere. Sunghoon wasn't particularly fond of it but he left it alone. "Do you have any friends you'd like to introduce us to? I need to see some fresh faces, I'm kinda getting sick of them."

Jake turned his head back to the group. "I think my friend Niki would like you guys, the poor boy is in need of more friends." Sunghoon scoffed. "Isn't it the other way around?" Jake pinched his thigh and he retracted the statement.

However, Sunoo gasped. "Excuse me, don't insult my favourite person like that."

Sunghoon's face scrunched up and turned to Heeseung. "Aren't you offended?" Heeseung, the boyfriend of Sunoo, simply shook his head. "Nope. I like him too."

Jake gave Sunghoon a proud smile. "Hah."

Now, Jake isn't completely friendless - neither is Niki. He knows he makes himself sound all lonely but it's not truly the case.

Jake has friends he's made from YouTube and Niki has friends he's made from dance, but they both use the term friend loosely.

They hang out often enough and share good memories with other people, but they both lack big support systems.

Jay suddenly stood up. "I'm hungry, Jake come help me cook dinner." Most of them looked at Jay puzzled while Sunghoon gently moved Jake off his shoulder to stand up. "No it's okay, Jake stay here I'll go help Jay."

Jay clicked his tongue. "Nope. I want to have some bestfriend's boyfriend bonding time." Jake let out an amused breath but he just glared. "Never say that again."

Jay just shrugged, montioning Jake off the couch. "Let's go Jakey."

Jay had just finished chopping up some vegetables while Jake was stirring the sauce.

"Hey." Jake startled slightly. "Hey?" For some reason Jay decided to slip right beside him. He gave him a confused look but Jay just ignored it. "Are you having fun?"

He nodded, puzzled at the sudden use of English. "Yeah, you guys are very entertaining." He let out a small chuckle but Jay's face stayed blank.

Jake blinked at him, now slightly uncomfortable. "I'm going to get to the point." Jay moved himself to face Jake directly. "You seem very genuine and I'm glad."

Jake gave him a small smile and Jay continued. "You've probably already realized this but Sunghoon might look all tough but he is genuinely just a baby. He likes to act all cool when in reality he needs just as much comfort as the rest of us."

Jay was right. Sunghoon is perfectly capable of getting all sulky or clingy, he's experienced it first hand.

"He's not very vocal about his feelings, so you need to know when to step back and let him figure it out. He'll tell you eventually if you let him process it." This was something that Jay had learned early on in their friendship. While he was someone who always wanted to talk problems out and solve things quickly, Sunghoon was quite the opposite. He wasn't passive per say, he was simply just more reserved. "Sometimes it is frustrating because all you want to do is help him, but in the long run just giving him support without endless questioning helps him the most."

Jay patted Jake's shoulder. "He picked a good guy."

The smile that Jay was wearing suddenly went cold. "But just because I like you doesn't mean I wouldn't defend Sunghoon to the death. Me and Heeseung are hockey players, I don't think you want to mess with us." Jays award winning smile went back on his face as he turned to the living room. "Time to eat everyone!"
