Jake was sitting on the metal bench with his head in his hands, stressed. Why was he stressed? It was none other than Sunghoon and his stupid ideas.

"I can't believe I'm doing this." Sunghoon chuckled, bending down with Jakes skates in his hands. "You'll be fine."

Jake only let out a puff of air, crossing his arms. "Yeah okay, say that to me after I break a leg on the ice." Sunghoon's head shook as he skillfully tied the laces of Jake's shoes. Jake would've been more impressed if it weren't for the fact that he was about to bolt out of the skating rink.

"You are so lucky I care about you, I wouldn't be caught dead doing this for anyone else." Somehow, the only way Sunghoon would take a small break from ice skating was if Jake learned how to skate.

As he was getting led to the rink, Jake was solemnly replaying the conversation that led them to here in the first place

-

They were back in Jake's bed, legs tangled up, both changed into pajamas (Jakes pajamas - Sunghoon had other clothes but had insisted he wanted to wear Jakes, he said they smelt good?).

The last thing Jake wanted to do was break the comfortable atmosphere they created, but this had to be said. "You need to take a break from skating." Sunghoon straight out refused, answering without missing a beat. "Absolutely not."

Jake sighed, he knew this was gonna be hard. "Listen, I don't want to be known as the controlling boyfriend, but you cannot go back to practice tomorrow"

Sunghoon looked up at Jake with a teasing smile. "You called yourself my boyfriend." Jake glared. "Sorry, please continue."

Jakes hand was gently caressing Sunghoons lower back in hopes of easing the inevitable tension brought from this conversation. "I don't think you understand Sunghoon, if you don't take a rest, your side will get worse. It will eventually get so bad that you won't be able to skate at all. Do you want that?" He shook his head. "I know skating is everything to you and I know the last thing you want to do is take a break, but you know, whether you want to admit it or not, that this will get very bad and really hurt your future."

Sunghoon looked hesitant and Jake couldn't figure out why. Annoyed? That made sense, Jakes persistently asking him to take a break from his favourite thing. Sad? Makes even more sense because he's realizing that he has to stop for a little bit even though it hurts his heart. But hesitant? Jake didn't know. "You're thinking, what are you thinking about?"

Sunghoon wanted to tell him, he really wanted to tell him, but he couldn't. There was no way he could tell him.

Jake seemed to take note of the inner turmoil going on in Sunghoon's brain. He contemplated pushing for an answer, but it looked like Sunghoon would rather jump off a cliff than tell him what was going on.

Jake slowly sat up, ultimately bringing Sunghoon up with him. "I'm going to take a shower, you stay here and think okay?" Sughoon moved his head in agreement as Jake gave his forehead a kiss, making his way to the bathroom.

Once the door shut, Sunghoon sank back down in to the covers. He honestly wanted to cry. Firstly because his side hurts like a bitch meaning he'll have to take a break, but secondly the sadness came from somewhere else, it was more like stress.

He knew he could trust Jake but this was something that had to wait. Jake was curious and Sunghoon saw that, but Jake knew how Sunghoon functioned and silence was one of his tools.

Sunghoon had no idea why but he felt tears prick at his eyes. Maybe it was the disappointment at himself for getting hurt. Maybe it was his frustration with himself for finding it so hard to open up. Maybe it was the throbbing pain and complete exhaustion creeping up on him. Regardless, he shed a couple tears while Jake was in the shower.

Once Jake came back and slipped under the covers, he didn't say anything, but Sunghoon could tell by the way Jake immediately pulled him close, that he knew he had cried.

Sunghoon then realized how much he loved Jake. He was thankful that Jake was understanding and gave him time to think.

And even though he wanted nothing more than to completely vanish, Jakes presence made his terrible feelings subside just a little.

-

As soon as Jake stepped on the ice, he wanted to leave. "I'm going to die. I'm gonna slip and my head is going to crack open." The death grip that he had on Sunghoon's forearms was laughable. "You're okay, I've got you."

The scene was actually quite comical. Jake was decked out in knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet practically encasing his whole head with a puffy jacket and gloves while Sunghoon was in a thin jacket, sweatpants, and his figure skates.

"We're going to try moving forward okay?" Jake quickly shook his head but Sunghoon ignored it. "I'll go slow."

Everything in Jake wanted to simply stay still, but he promised Sunghoon he'd try even if it meant making a fool out of himself.

Sunghoon slowly started moving back, Jake following. "See? You're doing great."

It looked like he was going to let go and Jake panicked, grabbing on tighter to his boyfriend.

Sunghoon's years of teaching little kids how to skate apparently helped him prepare for having a grown man holding on to him for dear life. "Yunnie, please relax. I'm not going anywhere."

Since the two confessed, Sunghoon had taken a liking to calling him anything but Jake. The first time Sunghoon called him my love, he genuinely almost melted into the floor.

By some miracle, Jake was still in awe, he was skating by himself by the end of their time at the rink. He still made Sunghoon stay within a two foot radius of him, but the important thing was that he was doing it by himself.

They were out of the rink, slowly walking hand in hand to Sunghoons car.

"I'm glad we did this." Sunghoons head turned to Jake, confused at the sudden sentimental tone. "Huh?"

"I saw you watching the other skaters you know. I know how much you miss being here." Sunghoon pursed his lips, was he really that transparent? "Coming here was good, even if I thought I was going to die."

Sunghoon simply chuckled. "As much as I didn't want to take a break, I knew I had to, I just needed a little push. Thank you for that."

Jake stopped beside the car, gently grabbing Sunhoons face. "No, thank you for opening up to me and taking my advice. The last thing I wanted was to see you in even more pain."

As Sunghoon placed soft hands on Jake's hips, Jake leaned in and placed a careful kiss on his lips. They've only kissed a handful of times but Sunghoon has determined that the feeling was something he now couldn't live without.

They both slowly backed away, relishing in the comforting atmosphere they created.

They gazed at each other before Sunghoon stepped away with a flaming face. "Ugh I hate being all sentimental, get in the car." Sunghoon huffed while Jake laughed at his red face. Riling Sunghoon up had become his new favourite pastime.
