RESENTMENT

After carefully assessing Vincent's condition in the sterile confines of the ICU room, the doctor stepped back, his expression a mixture of concern and professionalism.

Vincent's parents, Elizabeth and Henry, awaited his verdict with bated breath, their hearts heavy with worry.

With a sigh, the doctor removed his gloves and turned to face them. "I've done all I can to stabilize Vincent," he began, his voice calm yet tinged with a hint of uncertainty. "But I must be honest with you, he remains in a coma."

Elizabeth's eyes welled up with tears, her trembling hands clutching onto Henry's arm for support. "Is there anything else you can do? Any hope for his recovery?"

The doctor's gaze softened, recognizing the desperation in their voices. "We will continue to monitor his condition closely and provide the necessary care. However, the road ahead is uncertain, and we must be prepared for any outcome."

Henry tightened his grip on Elizabeth's shoulder, offering her a comforting embrace. "Thank you, Doctor, for all your efforts," he said, gratitude and exhaustion etched into his weary voice.

The doctor nodded, a touch of sympathy in his eyes. "I understand how difficult this is for both of you. We'll do everything we can to support your son and provide the best care possible."

As the doctor turned to leave, Elizabeth mustered the strength to ask one final question, her voice trembling with a mix of hope and fear. "Will he wake up? Will our son come back to us?"

The doctor paused, his gaze fixed on the ground for a moment before meeting Elizabeth's tear-filled eyes. "We can't predict with certainty, but miracles do happen. It's important to hold onto hope and stay by Vincent's side. Keep talking to him, let him feel your presence. Sometimes, the power of love and connection can work wonders."

Elizabeth nodded, a determination shining through her tears.

She knew that the journey ahead would be challenging, but the love she and Henry shared for their son would fuel their strength and perseverance.

With a final nod, the doctor bid them farewell, leaving the room filled with uncertainty.

Elizabeth and Henry stood side by side, their hearts heavy but determined, as they prepared to face the difficult days ahead.
