Nations and myths

Nations were often mistaken for gods or mythical characters, Greece was the bases for the myth of Heracles, England for king Arthur, ect. now the gods (all of them from every culture did.) did exist but they were always getting confused for nations and sometimes nations were the children of gods or are/were gods (since their powers don't just disappear, although most didn't know), although most of them don't actually know about these mix ups.

(A/N, i'm sorry but to me this makes a lot of sense for why so of these myths and feats came about)
