Caleb's eyes narrowed as he observed Mr. Collins, the middle-aged man with dark hair color, who stood over a dead body, with gloves on checking on the status of the body with some tools.

His gaze filled with concern, ad a warning. The atmosphere in the room grew tense as Mr. Collins uttered his words, his voice laced with an air or urgency.

"If you have any influence with my niece, I suggest you use it to make her leave. It's better for everyone." Mr. Collins advised, his tone serious.

Caleb, caught off guard by the man's blunt statement, felt a surge of annoyance rise within him.

"Obviously, it's better for you," he retorted, his voice tinged with sarcasm.

Mr. Collins's weary eyes met Caleb's , " Don't think about me, Mr. Rivers. I promise you, you'd be wrong." He said, his words hanging in the air, with a weight that hinted at something untold.

Caleb's curiosity piqued, and he couldn't help but probe further.

"Miranda found her picture on a headstone, which made me double curious," he explained, his voice filled with determination. "Made me want to dig in there and really find out what's going on. I can be annoying when I get like that."

He was determined to get answers out of Miranda's uncle, no matter what it took.

The room fell into a momentary silence broken only by a distant hum of the lights above them.

Suddenly, Caleb's attention was diverted as the dead body on the examination table twitched.

Shocked, Caleb gasped, his eyes widening in disbelief. "He must have moved," Caleb stammered, filled with complete shock at what he saw.

Mr. Collins unfazed by the sight, offered a simple explanation. "Spinal cord,Mr. Rivers. It works even after the brain stops," he explained, shattering the illusion of stillness surrounding the lifeless form he was working on. Caleb shook his head, trying to calm himself down even though his heart was pounding against his chest.

Meanwhile, Miranda found herself immersed in an old photograph book, her fingers delicately turning the pages of the dusty old album.

A sudden rumble came from behind her, caught her attention, she looked surprised.

Caleb entered the room Miranda was in, not having much luck with her uncle. He was stubborn.

"Did you hear that?" Miranda asked, feeling concerned at what she heard behind her while she sat down.

Caleb glanced at her, raising a brow with curiosity. "Hear what?" He replied, his gaze shifting onto her.

Brushing off her momentary unease, Miranda shifted the conversation to her uncle.

"Uhm..nothing..Did you talk to my uncle?"
Caleb's response carried a hint of sarcasm, a shield to mask his frustration. "Yeah, you get all your charm from your father's side of the family." He replied, his words a playful jab at the strainful interaction.

Their exchange continued, Caleb's curiosity refusing to wane.

He couldn't help but inquire further. "Hey, so what happened? You kind of choked when you met him."

Miranda scoffed, a defensiveness creeping into her tone. "I didn't choke." She retorted.

Caleb chuckled and smirked. "Dude, you choked."

Miranda threw up her hands in exasperation, frustration and amusement coloring her expression.

"Okay, what is this? My employee review?" She retorted back, her tone dripping in sarcasm.
