The Avenger had set itself down for upgrades and supplies, Xcom had a dozen agents ready for missions in that may occur in the range of the Skyranger.
Tygan was looking over some recovered Advent data, Even with the Avatar Project taken down, there are still many outposts of Advent control that remain.
"Perhaps the water system may have a chemical agent mixed into it, making people loyal to advent." He commented.
"Maybe it's the message, observation of Advent media sites have a higher comment ratio of people claiming it's doctored or faked with the Black Site discovery." A scientist said, looking over as they looked through the data.
"The Early missions didn't help the city's opinion of us. We have strong support outside of the city centers, but inside they have a lot more loyal to ADVENT." a second one said.
Lily Chen radioed over the internal comms system.
"Tygan, you I got readings from the psi-gate is being powered up." Chen said.
"Can you shut it down?" Tygan asked, worried.
"I'm trying, but something is feeding it power by force, I have the thing disconnected completely and the power readings just keep growing." Chen said.
"Bradford, set out an alert, we may be attacked." Tygan said.
The Avenger alarm blared, as engineers and doctors rushed to saferooms, as the Soldiers grabbed their gear and prepared, Chen, in a last desperate measure, would grab the largest of her wrenches, and try and break the machine before advent soldiers could pass through.
As the frame broke, the psi-gate dispersed, making the entire structure of the Avenger glow.
"Chen, what's going on?" Bradford asked.
"Everyone hold on, this may be rough." She said.
The Avenger began to shake, as power surges ran through out the ship. After a few minutes, and one final massive tremor from the engines burning to life, just for a moment tossing the ship up and dropping it back down, making quite a few people fall to the ground.
Everyone groaned, confused, as the glow vanished. Stepping down into the Command Center, the Commander asked a simple orders.
"I want a damage report. Have Undead Squad, report to the hanger. Central, before all of this, I got a location ping, an ADVENT Warehouse. Something is going on, the ping marker is lost, but I was able to catch the coordinates." The Commander explained, handing the data pad to Central.
'Understood Commander. Undead Squad, report to the hanger." The Commander would walk down to the Hanger, and meet with the Squad.
The team made up of a ranger, sharpshooter, Grenadier, specialist, a Spark and a Psi-operative stood ready.
"Undead Squad, you mission is plain and simple, you go in, and hit the enemy position, secure the intel." The Skyranger flew towards a city, finding it was darker, cloudy, with zepplins in the sky.
"I never thought ADVENT would use those." the Specialist said.
"Yeah, besides....this place doesn't have the ADVENT shine on the place, looks more like a normal city from before the invasion." The Grenadier said.
"Setting down, jeez, this might be a city ADVENT never touched." The Pilot said.
The light turned green, the back hatch opened and everyone roped down, before they moved into cover. Advancing slowly, keeping everyone low. Climbing a set of pipes, the group looked into the target building, seeing a man in a green suit with a cane, and a woman that looked like a cat.
"This is getting weird." the specialist said.
The ranger broke open a lock and climbed inside, to get a closer look, over hearing the conversation.
"It's simple, the riddle is the house of Lycaon, on the roads of the enterprise and the hornet. By the time he finds out, we will be long gone, and we'll have stolen the valuables in here." THe man in the green suit said.
The woman looked up, her ears twitching.
"Looks like one of the sidekicks found us first." She said, leaping up on the catwalk and running long, moving fast, leaping and attempting to swing her clawed hands down onto the ranger, who blocked it with her arc blade, kicking her off and over.
"COVER'S BLOWN. FULL ON!" SPARK-141 said, before breaking the wall open and walking in, aiming down and firing at the Green suited man who hid behind a box.
A few goons shot at SPARK, only for 3 distinctive thumps were heard as one flashbang and 2 frost bombs went off, freezing the goons. Cheetah rushed over at the Psi-Operative, who used Stasis, before the Specialist moved the Gremlin over them, and prepared a Stun blast.
The Sharpshooter moved to flank the box the man was using as cover, before they took aim, a single shot fired and missed, drawing the man out of cover. The ranger dropped down and with a quick slash, the man was knocked unconscious.
"Grab these two, let's see what we can find out." The Psi-operative said, as he looked down at the suited man and the cat woman, before deploying a evac beacon on the sky ranger. Everyone moved, evacuating quickly, flying away.
It was a few minutes after this, when someone showed up, wearing a black cloak and walking in, pushing the doors open. Walking around, he scanned the area, picking up the canister, and seeing the goons who were shivering from the cold.
"What happened?" Batman questioned menacingly, "Where is the Riddler and Cheetah?"
"Th..they g..g..g..got tak..ken." one of the henchmen said, shivering.
"By who?" Batman asked, pulling the man up and by the collar of his shirt.
"We don't know, they- they broke through a wall with a robot and caught us by surprise, before we knew it, the bosses were captured and taken." the henchmen said, scared.
The sounds of Sirens began to blare and Batman dropped a smoke bomb, before vanishing as Jim Gordon walked in.
"Arrest them, and see what they were stealing." Gordon ordered.
A crate was opened, and inside were mechanical components for Wayne Industries.
-later-
~Riddler's POV~
I woke up after being knocked out. I found myself in a glass cell, with 2 people with guns looking at me. One pressed a button on the wall.
"He's up, the cat's still out." the soldier said, having.....a german accent.
A minute later, a figure in what looked like a what looked like a space suit walked in. He had a rubber like collar on his neck, as he looked tired, or sickly, I couldn't tell which.
"So, Why are you working with ADVENT, and where is the VIP that was suppose to be where you were waiting." He asked.
"Well Riddle me this, what is this important event? Maybe it's a person, Maybe it's a thing, who wants to know." I asked, having to come up with a question on the spot.
"You are in no place to ask dumb riddles. Now." The man said, pulling out a wallet with a question mark, "Mister Edward Nigma. Tell us, what were you doing at that warehouse
A man in a labcoat walked forward.
"Commander, I believe this may be a good opportunity to test the effects of the Psi-Operative to Dominate the mind." the scientist said.
"Now hold on, we don't need to resort to that. So, you're the commander, I can't say I have ever heard of Advent maybe I can help give you some info." I said, nervous.
There was a momment where the Commander looked at me, then a tablet.
"It seems we are going to have a long conversation. Bradford said there are no cells reporting, any no contact from the spokesmen. And.....we are detecting a lot of strange energy signatures. So, Mister Nigma, tell us, what do you know?"
