I wake up, and Jace is gone. I pull my shirt on as I look in to the bathroom. With no sign of him I change clothes, and walk down to breakfast.
On the way there I find Simon wandering the corridors alone and upset.
"Oh! Clary, thank God you found me. I have to admit, I was pretty lost. Izzy had already left for breakfast when I woke up." Simon says as he comes over to me.
I nod and say, "Yeah, Jace had too. Come on let's go."
Simon and I get down to the dining hall to find not a single shadowhunter in sight, with the exception of me.
"Where the hell is everyone?!" Simon nearly shouts.
"Simon, shut up. We have a guest. Magnus. Do you know where Isabelle, Alec, Max, and Jace have went?" I ask Magnus as he comes through the dining hall door.
He nods and says, "Yes. They went to Alicante. Jace had to go, something about Herondale Manor. The others went with him, and left me in charge of the Institute until they returned. Though, they also have conclave members staying in the Institute. I was told that you were staying here to keep training Simon."
"By who?" I ask.
"Isabelle. She said that you were going to go, but you ended up not being able to go. Though, I did here Alec, Jace, and her arguing about something before Isabelle came to talk to me." Magnus tells me thoughtfully tapping his chin.
I shake my head in frustration and ask, "Is there anyway you can send me through?"
"Yes, the portal is still open, and right over here." Magnus tells me as we walk to the end of the dining hall.
Magnus points to a wide portal on the wall and says, "They are expecting one more person, Catarina Loss. Speaking of her, Catarina. It seems that Clary here was left behind, and young Simon is staying here to train with the conclave members. Would it be alright if Clary went with you?"
"That would be fine. Get your bag, and hurry." Catarina tells me as she nods to Magnus.
I hurry up stairs, and quickly pack my bathroom supplies, gear, weapons, extra clothes, another pair of boots, my sketch pad and pencils, and the scrapbook my mom had given me.
I hurry downstairs, and in to the dining hall. Catarina waits patiently on me, sitting in a seat at the end of the table.
She stands, and we both step through the portal. I am enveloped by the whirlwind.
I hit the ground on my hands and knees. I quickly regain my balance, and stand up. Isabelle stands gaping at me.
"What are you doing here?" She asks.
"Magnus sent me through with Catarina. I was supposed to come, and someone let it slip to Magnus that I was coming with Catarina." I tell her as Jace comes up to me.
He smiles and says, "I might have said something to Magnus about you coming with Catarina."
"Jace! We agreed she wasn't coming with us. She needs to continue her training, and there is nowhere she can train here." Izzy says, her voice going up an octave.
"Isabelle. We can talk about this when we get to the house, come on." Alec tells her as we mount horses.
I get on as Isabelle starts to say, "Alec-"
"Quiet." Alec cuts in. We ride at the back of the group in silence the rest of the way to Alicante.
When we arrive at the city of glass I stare up at the demon towers that gleam crystal clear. When we reach the stables Jace and I dismount.
We start walking with Isabelle, Max, and Alec through the city. I stare in aw at the weapons shops and other assorted stores as we pass. Jace takes my hand, interlocking our fingers as we pass a fountain with a statue of Raziel at the top standing on a cement pedestal with the Shadowhunter motto on the pedestal. Translated from Latin to English it reads,

'The descent into Hell is easy.'

We reach a house big enough for two families to live in, and we quickly go in.
As soon as the door shuts Isabelle turns on Jace.
"Why the hell did you go against what Alec, you, and I had agreed on?! She shouldn't be here. She should be back in New York City, and not here acting like she's the princess of everything. Like she can't do a single wrong in your eyes, Jace! She is not as special as she looks." Isabelle says nearly shouting the whole time.
My mouth drops as Jace says, "I had her come anyways because we are going to look at the Herondale Manor. If it's going to be our house, I think that she should at least see it. Besides, it's not like she's going to hurt me, Isabelle. Plus she is trained as well as you. You don't think I was the one luring the demons into the storage closet last night at Pandemonium do you?""
"Guys. I'm right here you know." I say interrupting them.
"We know, Clary. Jace, Max, and Clary, can you three go upstairs, so I can talk to Isabelle?" Alec asks.
We all nod, and head upstairs.
Max goes to see his parents as Jace and I go in to Jace and Alec's room. As Jace shuts the door I sit down on his bed and ask, "I should have stayed in New York, should I have?"
"Clary, no. You were supposed to come. Izzy... Izzy wants Simon protected, and she knows you'll do that. Even though Magnus is there she doesn't feel like Simon is that safe with the conclave members training him, even though she knows he is. She's scared for him. She knows some of the conclave members staying at the Institute don't like mundanes. Don't worry. I'm going to go talk to Izzy and Alec. Just lay down and rest." Jace tells me.
I nod as he shuts the door. A few minutes later a black cloth bag is thrown over my face and I'm punched hard enough to knock me out...
