When Cassie told me that I was going to spend the day with my eldest brother, Corey, I was excited. What part that I wasn't excited about was that it was at a High School. Goode High School, to be specific. So, I spent the last half year at camp with my entire family, except my step-mom, eldest brother, and mortal half-brother.

Basically, I was stuck with my brother who I haven't seen in years, at a school orientation. Fun, right. Sitting in a sweaty gym, sitting with the student section. And after, my brother drives me towards my double "date" with Brett and Annabeth. They had spent the entire day together, and there I was, stuck at an orientation that wasn't even for me.

My brother had let me drive, besides me only being 15. Oh, well.

"Turn right, Ad," Corey said. I turned the wheel, then found an easy parking spot. "Great driving, kiddo," he said, rustling my hair. I got out of the car, pressing the button to open the trunk.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

I opened the door to go outside and stepped out.

"Help me with these boxes," Corey instructed. I grabbed a cardboard box and stacked another one on top, and my brother guided me towards the doors of the school. He was anxious, and nervous. With an extra hand, I pinched his arm. "Ouch!" he shrieked.

"You're nervous," I chuckled. "Am not," he shivered.

"Cor, you're almost a decade older than me. But, I know what stuff's up. You graduated from college a year ago, and you're finally a teacher and you're nervous. I know what it's like to be nervous too, big bro. But you'll be ahead of it, sooner or later," I explained, walking up the steps.

I looked at the top, staring at Paul Blofis, Sally Jackson's boyfriend. He was working alongside my brother. He waved at me, and I waved back.

"Hi, Mr. Blofis," I said, shaking his hand.

"Hello, Adira. How do you know Mr. Lanca-"

He stopped himself. He looked at us closely, and then sighed. "You're siblings, right?"

"There you go, Mr. Blofis. Tip o' the tongue," Corey said.

A girl with fiery red hair and green eyes walked up. Then, I realized who she was. Rachel Elizabeth Dare.

She looked at me. "Hey, you tried to murde-"

"OOOOO-kay, time to go!" Corey said, grabbing my wrist while balancing his boxes with one hand. "Come on, Adira!!"

He tugged me along. "Corey, I swear if I have to fight a monster here-" I whispered.

"Adiraleise, please just shut up! Now, what is that red-haired mess talking about?" he asked.

"Okay, so about 6 months ago, Percy and I maybe... almost cut her in half with a dagger and a sword," I mumbled. I continued explaining, and my brother listened.

We kept on walking towards his new classroom, and his eyes were distraught. "You're a half-blood too, Corey. You have to understand what the hell I'm saying," I explained. "Adi, I DO understand. I'm just trying to help you. Very, very, slowly, turn around."

I did. There were two cheerleaders following us. He stopped us, and unlocked the door to his classroom quickly. My eyes widened. The cheerleader's were staring us down, like a wolf staring at its dinner. I, as any sane person would be, was suspicious. "Give me the boxes, Adi."

I gave them to him, and he put them inside. He slid them back with his foot. He shut the door immediately and locked the door once again. The cheerleaders were right by us. We had to stay calm.

"Hello, I'm Tammi. And this is Kelli."

I looked at one of the girls. One was blond with icy blue eyes. The other was African American with dark curly hair.

"Uhh, hi," I mumbled. I looked at my brother, giving him the; Get me the fuck out of here stare.

But I was stopped by Miss. Red-Headed Nightmare herself. Her eyes were wide and distraught, and she faced my brother.

"Mr. Lancaster, hello. I'm Rachel Dare," she said, holding her hand out. My brother took off his sunglasses and shook her hand. My brother's eyes were a little bit squinted, as if he was nervous she was a monster herself.

"Hello, Ms. Dare. It's great to meet you. I'm excited to be your teacher this year," he said. Rachel looked at me. "Would you like me to bring you to the orientation room?"

"Oh, I'm not a student this ye-"

"Yes, we would love to," my brother blurted out, pushing towards the gym. He accidentally pushed me into Kelli, whom I kneed in the thigh.

Slang.

"Oww," she hissed. "Watch it, Adiraleise Lancaster."

Adiraleise Lancaster?!?!!

One thing you learn as a half-blood is when you just meet someone, and they say a name, they're a monster. Or worse, a god or goddess.

I rushed past her.

Rachel stared at me, while dragging me towards the gym. "Thanks," I said, letting out a breath I held way too long.

"Don't sweat it," she told me.

She led me into the gym, which was filled with teachers and students. I laughed nervously. "You see, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, I don't- no, can't do crowds," I exclaimed.

"C'mon, if you're seriously gonna be a student here, you gotta learn how to deal with crowds," she said, staring me down with her green eyes.

"For the second time, I'm not going to be a student-"

She turned around and stopped me. "Just work with me here, A'Door A'Land."

I slowly pushed her to walk. "It's Adira Lancaster, first of all," I said, beginning to walk up the bleachers. My brother waved at me from the bottom, where he sat down with other teachers, his face pale.
