Chapter one: ''I'm just a little distracted, that's all''

[Jason's POV]

"Jason, Jason hellooo, earth to Jason, you there?" Craig said, waving his hand around frantically
"H-Huh? Oh yeah uh s-sorry. I just got a little distracted, that's all. Sorry" I said told him, a bit embarrassed

"Okay, you good bud? You've been distracted for a while now." Craig said in a concerned tone
"Yep! I'm all good. No need to worry" I said trying to reassure him

"Alright if you say so.." Craig said in a tome that made me feel like he didn't fully believe me
"A-Anyway, how's your design coming along?" I say quickly, trying to change the topic

"Oh! It's going really good actually" He started to say
"I just have to tweak a few things and then it'll be fully complete" Craig said happily

"That's good to hear, I'm glad the design is coming along great. Say, how's the application going for the art school or the architecture school?" I asked him

"I still haven't heard from them, but hopefully I'll get accepted to either one of them. I really like both of thoses collages but I won't be picky about where I go." Craig said

I just nodded my head in an understanding manner

"Oh, also," Craig began to say
"How are things at your part-time job? How's Bernard taking the 'Manager' title?" Craig added

"Uhh, the job is good, it's a pretty slow business but I guess it's alright. Better than nothing that's for sure. Not that much stress.

Also Bernard is taking it pretty well actually, which makes me feel something needs to go awry. But to be honest, he's probably dying inside because of everything he needs to do and he's probably a bit sad because this wasn't the job he wanted-" I explained to Craig

"Ah, I understand., I guess I'll ask Bernard to see what he thinks, and how he feels about his new job position. Anyway, do you have a shift today?" Craig asked

I just simply shrugged in respond before I started talking

"It depends if my 'Parents' are home. If they're home then I'll go work if not, I'd probably just call Bernard to see if someone else can work and cover my shift for today and stay home. But if I'm really bored and have nothing else to do, then I'll go and work" I explained

"Oh.. Damn-" Craig said, not really knowing how to respond

I just looked at him and shrugged nonchalantly

"Honestly I stopped giving two shits about them. I don't care what happens to me at this point. Were all going to die at some point, right?" I say to him

"R-right, I guess so?" He answered, but he seemed a bit unsure about his response

I just chuckled, trying to lighten the mood a bit

"They don't care about me so why should I care for them?" I say cooly
"But there still your parents, I'm sure that both still care about you" Craig responded

I was about to argue back, before I was interrupted

*Bell rings*

"Welp- that's the bell, see you later Jason" Craig said
"Bye Craig see you later as well" I said

We both waved each other goodbye and went our separate ways

I went to my 5th period; Math and sat down in my assigned seat

I got bored and started daydreaming

But for some reason my mind wandered to Craig, I tried to shake the thought of him, but I couldn't. So I decided to sleep instead. I could care less about what the teachers will say.
