CAMRYN TOOK A DEEP BREATH BEFORE REOPENING THE DOOR. Jack looked up, not expecting her to open the door back up. He had already convinced himself that Camryn hated him.

"Come on." She stated, using her leg to move the three excited dogs out of the doorway.

Jack awkwardly shuffled in, letting Camryn shut the door behind him. Camryn sat down on the sectional couch, gesturing for Jack to do the same. Jack nervously sat on the opposite end of the couch, staring at his feet.

"So you came all this way to sit in silence?" Camryn annoyedly spoke, shifting in her seat.

Jack sighed. "I'm sorry, Camryn. For everything I did. I didn't mean any of it." Jack started to grovel, not reaching eye contact with Camryn.

"You still did it, and you sent me away. Which by the way caused a lot of embarrassment on the plane." Camryn joked, but knew she wouldn't receive a pleasant reaction.

"I know, I was just angry." Jack mumbled, shaking his head at her.

"You were angry?" Camryn repeated, disbelief strong in her tone.

"Yeah, I mean, what took you this long Camryn? If you've felt that way about me forever, why didn't you just say anything?" Jack questioned, looking over at Camryn.

Camryn leaned her head back slightly, thinking of her reply. There were a plethora of reasons why she kept her feelings hidden, all of them were either sad or just childish. Camryn tried to find the most reasonable reason from her holster before replying to Jack.

"I mean like, you are the Jack Hughes. #1 Draft pick, one of the best scorers in the league, you have so many accomplishments. And I-" Camryn paused, biting her bottom lip before continuing. "I'm your childhood best friend who worked at Hooters for gods sake."

The room was filled with a tense silence. Camryn felt embarrassed for putting her feelings on a platter for him to pick at and digest. Jack, on the other hand, felt bad. Jack felt like his nonsense made her feel like she wasn't good enough for him. It was the entire opposite for him.

"Okay, let's stop using your previous job choice as a way to define who you are." Jack let out a small chuckle, something that Camryn reciprocated. "Camryn, if you are trying to say that you are not deserving of being with me, that isn't true." Jack continued, holding eye contact with her.

Camryn let out a shuddered sigh. "Jack, say this is going to work, right? I live and have a job here, in Vancouver. You live and have a job in New Jersey. Both of these are full-time careers we can't drop." Camryn started to think.

Jack nodded, grasping what she was now leading to. "I think we could make it work. I mean, we were able to do it while being best-friends." Jack answered, looking over at her.

The tense silence filled the room again. Both parties were too nervous to say anything, worried they may say the wrong thing. Camryn starting to pick at her nails due to her anxiety, but nonetheless, she opened her mouth to speak.

"Now what?"

Jack shrugged without thinking. "I think we try it, without a label. Exclusive, but making sure it'll actually work out." Jack answered, practically wincing until he heard Camryn's reply.

"That works, and keep it out of the media. Lord knows what would happen if Sienna found out." Camryn exaggerated, both of them laughing.

"No shit," Jack spoke between his laughter.

"I actually knew you were on your way here." Camryn admitted, looking back up at Jack.

Jack widened his eyes. "Did you put a tracker on me or something?" Jack questioned, jokingly.

Camryn rolled her eyes, "Yup!" She joked, letting out a laugh. "No actually, Quinn told me. He also wished me luck because you assaulted his table." Camryn explained, almost sounding like she was asking a question.

"Okay, I did not assault his table. I just was frustrated, he was calling me stupid." Jack defended, putting his hands up.

"Well you are stupid, extremely stupid." Camryn deadpanned. "I mean what man sends the girl he likes back home because he's mad." Camryn shook her head.

"I was stuck! At that point I was still in a relationship." Jack reminded.

"Yeah, um, what happened with that?"

Jack sat up, turning to face her completely. "So, when I came back home, her car was in my driveway, extremely weird. I go inside, she's literally in my bed, in my clothes, with some guy. Then, come to find out, she told the guy it was her house."

Camryn's jaw dropped, letting out a gasp. "Wait- Seriously? Kids gotta be stupid, there is hockey awards everywhere in your house." Camryn looked at him in shock.

"That's what I'm saying. My house is not decorated like a women's house, no offense. You and Ashlyn have bar carts and paintings, my house is literally empty." Jack pointed to the miscellaneous decorations around the house.

"Extremely empty." Camryn agreed.

"Exactly! Like I know he didn't really believe it was her house." Jack was still kind of salty from the whole interaction.

"Crazy."

The silence once again fell upon the two, but this time is was comfortable. It was a comfortable silence that the two could sit in content in. Camryn had turned her attention back to the show she was watching on TV. Jack had gotten on his phone, noticing the multiple texts and missed calls from Quinn.

"Quinn wants an update." Jack told Camryn, leaning over to show her the messages.

"Let's give him a call then."
