"You were a mess since she left"

I still couldn't get those words out of my head.

I was in the sitting room with my mother in-law and her sisters, they were bemoaning about the death of an actress in the series they were watching, I couldn't focus on it because I was busy in my own head.

"Mu na nan har Sallan Asr ta yi ( we're here and it's already time for Asr prayer)". Hajiya RK said looking at the large wall clock which read five minutes after four, we stood up and went to pray, I performed ablution and offered my prayers and evening supplications.

I wore an Abaya over my outfit and headed out of the house, shortly after Khadija drove into the villa with her car and parked it.

"Mamss" she exclaimed, the excitement visible on her face as we both ran to hug eachother like teenage school girls.

"Goat I missed you" I said happily with a wide smile on my face.

"Me too".

I swayed the bag that contained the gifts I bought for her in Dubai and she playfully raised her eyebrows in a continuous motion with a wide grin making us both laugh.

She went inside to greet them while I waited for her inside the car.

We arrived at the new restaurant that recently opened and I took my time to look at the beauty in front of me, the restaurant has great decor and ambiance, the grand chandelier of the classy restaurant had many crystals that made it look like a disco ball when it reflected the sunlight, this place was so glitzy, they was literally gold in the furniture making the place all shiny and rich. Everything about the restaurant, the way they greeted us, the way the wait-staff treated us, the way the food was plated was graceful and elegant, there was nothing out of place in the refined restaurant, every flower was neatly pruned to perfection, every tablecloth pressed within an inch of its life. I couldn't wait to try the food of such a lavish restaurant.

We read the menu and picked what we wanted, we ordered smoked salmon pasta with crispy capers, roasted rack of lamb, roasted prime rib, Jollof rice, cranberry and brie stuffed chicken, vanilla and strawberry ice-cream, fine non-alcoholic wine and fruit juice.

"Damn" I faked fainted when the scrumptious food landed on my taste buds.

"I looove " Khadija said doing a little dance with her shoulders.

We took pictures of eachother and of course our food, we definitely did not observe table manners because we were busy talking and laughing about one thing or the other until one of the waiters came to tell us that someone paid for our food, the first thing I did was laugh because the whole thing was funny to me.

"Who abeg?" Khadija said in between her laughter.

"They're sitting in the VIP section" he replied, handing the receipt over to us.

"Who send them work" I said out loud but it was more of speaking to myself.

"Have they paid for their food yet?" Khadija asked.

"They just ordered now, so. No.".

"Well hand over their bill we'll pay for their food too, we won't accept their charity, we might as well pay back" she said professionally.

He went away and came back with their bill and we paid for every single thing they ordered.

"Wahallard" I said when when the waiter was already gone.
