Fiza's heart skipped a beat as she read the message. With her family visiting, she had already started feeling better. She realized that the fight with Farzana had affected her more than anything else. Regardless of her parentage, this was her family, and she and Farzana were sisters.

She looked at Alan's message and wondered if he did this because she had been depressed. Of course, she had been affected by Alan dating someone else. The thought of someone else being close to him had bothered her. But she knew he had been with others during their friendship. Seeing Rumya had given her a sense of reality about their relationship.

Taking a deep breath, Fiza responded to Alan's text with a simple question, "Y?"

Confused by her response, Alan decided to call her on FaceTime so they could talk more openly. When Fiza picked up the call, he couldn't help but smile at the sight of her. She was in her cozy pajamas, wearing glasses, and her hair was pulled up in a bun. Despite the casual look, she looked stunning, and Alan felt his heart skip a beat.

"Hey, Fiza!" he greeted her warmly.

"Hi Alan!" she replied with a bright smile. "What are you up to?"

"I just got home. Was thinking about you," he admitted, unable to hide the truth.

Fiza blushed at his candid response. "Aw, that's sweet. I was just watching some reels and chatting with Farzana. Oh, I have to send you this cute song and a cat video," she said, momentarily lowering her phone to find the videos she mentioned.

Alan laughed at her enthusiasm. "You're so weird," he teased affectionately.

"Hey, no one asked for your opinion," Fiza retorted playfully, making Alan chuckle even more.

"Are you okay?" she asked suddenly. Alan furrowed his brow in confusion. "You said you broke up with Rumya. I could see she made you happy. Are you okay?" she clarified, repeating her question.

Alan smiled warmly, appreciating her concern. "Yeah, I'm good. We are going to stay friends. I enjoy her company, but I'm not emotionally available right now for any kind of commitment," he explained, choosing his words carefully.

Fiza nodded in understanding. "Yeah, I know what you mean. You know, we'll figure it out. I was thinking about us. And..." She hesitated and blushed, leaving Alan curious about what she had to say.

"And?" he prodded, eager to hear her thoughts.

"You know how I am so weird about labeling everything and putting them in boxes?" she asked, and Alan rolled his eyes playfully. "I didn't notice," he teased.

"Idiot!" she said, laughing. "Anyways, it was always confusing to me and difficult that I couldn't fit you in as a friend or a boyfriend. Not confusing, I meant distressing," she corrected herself, still giggling at her own quirks.

Alan listened attentively, curious to know her thoughts on their relationship.

"But I found a new box for us. I think you are my soulmate," she said, smiling at him. "And that doesn't have to be friendship or romantic love. It's just... it's just like you said about Farzana. She is genetically my cousin, but really my twin. Am I making sense?" she asked, trying to explain her feelings.

"Nope." Alan shook his head, slightly amused. "Time to get a CT scan, maybe?" he joked lightly.

Fiza rolled her eyes playfully. "Don't be weird!"

"Then don't compare me to Farzana!" he retorted.

Fiza laughed. "I didn't! I said you are my soulmate. I love you. You are more than a best friend or a romantic partner. But you don't have to be anything else to me."
