they were pulling cameron along as they followed wherever the sound came from. sophie was mostly pulling it, groaning while she did.

"this is so tiring. dustin, lucas are you even pulling?" she asked the two boys who were practically glaring at each other.

"i don't think they are," cameron offered her a tired smile.

"can't you just walk?"

"you're the one who offered the wagon," cameron stated.

"you're postive that was dart?" lucas asked.

"yes. he had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt,"

"he was tiny two days ago," max spoke.

"well, he's molted three times already."

"malted?" steve questioned.

"molted. shed his skin to make room for like hornworms," the henderson boy corrected.

"when's he gonna molt again?" sophie asked.

"it's gotta be soon. when he does, he'll be fully grown or close to it. and so will his friends."

"yeah, and he's gonna eat a lot more than just cats,"

"wait, a cat?" lucas stopped dustin, making everyone stop. "dart ate a cat?"

"no, what? no."

"dustin just tell him," cameron pushed.

"tell me what? what, dustin?"

"dart ate mews," cameron stated.

"mews? who's mews?" max faced cameron. "his cat,"

"cameron!"

"i knew it! you kept him!" lucas yelled at his face.

"no! no. no, i- no, i- he missed me. he wanted to come home," cameron shook her head.

"bullshit!"

"i didn't know he was a demogorgon, okay?"

"oh, so now you admit it?"

"guys, who cares? we have to go." max spoke, breaking their argument. cameron and sophie agreeing with her.

"i care! you put the party in jeopardy! you broke the rule of law!"

"so did you!"

"what?"

"you told a stranger the truth!" dustin flashed max using his flashlight.

max scoffed. "a stranger?"

"you wanted to tell her, too!"

"yeah, but i didn't, lucas, okay?" there was sudden screeching in the distance.

"i didn't tell her! we both broke the rule of law, okay? so we're even. we're even." dustin continued.
