Third person POV

After their activities in the dining room Corinne and Athos after cleaning their mess they walked to Corinne's room.Well Corinne's legs were a bit shaky but she kept a tight grip on Athos' arm so she wouldn't fall. When they got closer to her room he swept her up bridal style making her squeal with laughter "could've warned me"she says with a smile so wide it hurt Athos smirks at her with a mischievous glint in his eye "and where is the fun in that?"he questions making her giggle she lets her head rest against his shoulder. The two of them enjoying the moment totally forgetting about tomorrow,as they reach her door Corinne opens it and the two walk inside. The door is kicked shut by Athos' foot he places her down knowing she'll want to get ready for bed "what time do you leave tomorrow?"she asks a question made them both upset but Corinne needed to know, she glances his way before lighting the candle by her bed to give the room light "10 in the morning"Athos answers which made Corinne frown she plops herself down on the side of the bed facing the direction of the door "that early?"she silently gasps even she isn't up that early just the thought of getting up annoys her "I have to be there before 8 tomorrow night and Calais is half a days ride you know that"Athos states Corinne just lets out a sigh and watched him walk towards her balcony doors and disappearing outside.

As Athos leans over the stone railing smoking his pipe Corinne walks about inside changing into her nightgown and sorting her hair out to sleep in.When he hears bare feet patting against the floor he turns just as Corinne comes onto the balcony "my mother is coming to visit soon"she mutters standing beside him their shoulders touching, this made Athos turn his head to look at her he knows how much Corinne hated her mother growing up so he was confused to why she was mentioning it "if you're here when she arrives,we will have to be careful I don't want her to know about us it can either get you exiled from the musketeers or worse and I know how much being a musketeer means to you"she frowns while folding her arms resting them on the railing Athos sighs "I wouldn't be opposed to being exiled from the musketeers if it was for you I'd gladly leave out of my own will"he says Corinne looks at him her mouth open a little dumbfounded, but not one word leaves her mouth speechless from what Athos had said "you and this baby mean more to me than the musketeers ever have,so if it came to a choice between you and being a musketeer I'd choose you it'll always be you"he claims and with that the conversation is over as Athos turns to focus back on his pipe while Corinne mulls over what had been said.

The next few minutes is silent as Corinne and Athos look out onto the massive garden that the balcony faces, after Corinne has had enough she pushes off the railing she places a hand on it as she turns fully to look at Athos "if you're up early we better get to bed"she mutters the moonlight catches on the ring on her finger as her hand grazes his elbow,he looks towards her he reaches out for her and she gladly takes his hand "lets stay out here just for a little longer"his voice is lower than a whisper but she hears him as clear as day she steps forwards a little to where she was prior "I want to spend the rest of tonight with you rather than sleeping"Athos says he stuffs his pipe back into his pocket exhaling the last bit of smoke into the night air.Corinne couldn't help but stare at the ring on her finger and think at how much has changed over the course of a year, she had said since she was little that she would marry for love not for alliances or for politics, but for her "a girl"Corinne mutters she turns her head to look at him to find him already looking at her with confusion,a hint of a smile on her lips "that dream we had..we had some how shared,we have a girl a perfect mixture of us"she states the flashes of the dream appear in her mind showing her their possible future,Athos grins at the thought of having a family with her it just made him want to make sure it happens.

Soon enough they grew exhausted and eventually they went back inside,Corinne climbs onto the bed and crawls to the top while Athos closes the balcony doors and locks them, she watched as she settles under the light blue duvet as Athos undress till he was ready for bed "you'll wake me before you leave, right?"Corinne asks quietly as lays her head down on the pillows she pulls at the thread loose from the duvet,it gets lifted a few seconds later as Athos settles in beside her and out of muscle memory pulls her close "I will"he whispers he kisses the top of her head as she nestled her head into his neck,Corinne splayed her hand on his bare chest as their legs tangle together "I love you"he whispers his fingers running up and down her clothed back underneath the duvet,he feels her press a kiss to the side of his neck followed by a little bite "I love you too-so much"she whispers back her eyes flutter shut as sleep invades her leaving Athos being the only one awake,he couldn't help the dread tugging at his heart and he understood why Corinne had her bad feeling.

It took Athos awhile to fall asleep but he did just as the sky grew lighter and the sun started to rise.

During the night Corinne had shifted onto her side her hands tucked under her pillow,Athos' arm draped over her waist their legs still tangled. It's the sound of birds chirping rather loudly from the balcony outside which rudely wakes Athos up he grumbles moving closer to Corinne.it was like ice cold water had been poured onto him as he remembers what goes on today, his eyes open he sees Corinne snoring softly next to him "darling?"he says as he shakes her awake she stirs rolling onto her back she opens her eyes a little and sees the morning sunlight and shakes her head "nonono"she mutters she rolls onto him clinging to him "it can't be morning yet"she rasps her voice hoarse with sleep Athos sighs he squeezes her hip and pushes himself onto his elbows "I've got ten minutes"he says kissing her shoulder Corinne looks up at him bleary eyed from sleep "do you trust this other musketeer?,what if whatever he's been writing to Treville is wrong or what if he's switched sides?"she overthinks her eyes starting to glaze over with tears "what if it's a trap?"she asks her voice breaking Athos frowns he reaches down to caress her cheek his thumb stroking her cheek bone "I trust Treville so I'll have to trust this musketeer, there is no way to know if it's a trap or not I'll just have to take my chances"he says a tear slips from her eye and he catches it with his thumb Corinne nuzzles into his touch.

A deep sigh comes out of Corinne as Athos gets out of the bed and instantly she feels cold, she sits up while pulling the duvet tighter around her keeping herself warm "four weeks that's all,I'll be back before you know it"Athos says as he pulls his shirt back on Corinne moves to the edge of the bed she pulls him to her by his shirt "you better keep your promise Athos i need you to come back to me safe and alive"she urges she places one hand on the back of his head while the other one is on his neck, tears appear in her eyes again "be careful"she whispers she leans up placing her lips onto his Athos instantly deepens the kiss wrapping his arms around her waist. When he pulls away he places a firm kiss on her forehead "i love you"he whispers he pulls away to press a chaste kiss on her lips she pecks his lips a few times before he pulled away fully "I love you"she repeats her hands slide off him as he steps away from her,she closes her eyes so she wouldn't see him leave but she hears the door shut and her shoulders slump. He had gone.
