I go to my refrigerator and grab the plate that has cheese, crackers, and grapes on it and set it on the coffee table since she'll be here any minute.
Knowing Allie as long as I have, I know she'll be looking for snacks when she gets here.
I was excited to hangout with Allie and I still am, but now I'm a bit anxious since I hung out with Wes a few days ago.
I know it's stupid, but it's like I'm anticipating her to see that I like Wes, almost like it's written on my forehead.
If she mentions trying to get back with Wes I'll tell her straight up that I don't want to be the middle man.
I have to save my sanity somehow.
If they get back together it'll definitely hurt considering I know that the attraction is mutual and the possibility of what could be, but I'll do what I did in college and just be happy for my best friend.
I hear a knock on my door and before I can even open it Allie walks in like she owns the place.
Typical Allie.
"Kenz, I missed you!" She yelled tackling me into a hug.
"I missed you too!" I said with the same amount of enthusiasm.
She releases me from the hug and sits down on the couch and starts eating the snacks I left out.
I walked over and sat down next to her. "So tell me... What have you been up to?" I ask even though we text and talk on the phone many times a week.
She pops a grape in her mouth. "Besides ending my misery and coming home nothing much. If it wasn't for Knox telling me I could do anything, I probably wouldn't be home right now" She said.
"Wow. Hey speaking of Knox... Why don't we invite him to hangout?"
Her face lit up. "Yes! I haven't seen him in person since his graduation" She said.
Wow it's been 7 years since they saw each other in person?
I go into my kitchen to get my phone and call him to see what he's up to.
"Hey cuz, what's up?" He asked.
"Nothing much, wanted to see what you were up to."
"Just got out of the shower after I mowed the lawn " He said.
"Ok, well I was wondering if you wanted to come over and hang out? Allie's here and wants to see you."
I can practically hear the smile in his voice. "I'll be there in a bit" He said.
"Ok, see you soon."
I hung up and went over to Allie.
"He's on his way."
She smiled. "Great, it feels like we're getting the band back together" She laughed.
"I know, it's been awhile since we've all been in the same room."
