Lance Stroll POV

As days went by I quickly realized that my dad adored Zoey as much as he adored me, she was like a daughter to him, I think those years and talks really got through to him and they are pretty close to each other and I find it funny. We are now in Dubai, about to celebrate the arrival of 2023, and we are looking at the beautiful view we have of the fireworks as we prepare for the countdown.

"I'm glad we worked through that" Zoey says happily as she puts her hand in mine.

"I am too baby. I love you too much to imagine a life without you" I say as I caress her face. We see a flash hitting us and I turn to find my sister taking photos.

"Don't even dare! You two are so adorable. I waited way too many years to see you this happy. We need memories and photos hold memories" Chloe says happily as she looked through her photos, has she taken more than one?

"You are such a cute couple" My mom says proudly and we both smile.

"Get the champagne ready! 30 seconds for the new year to start!" Raquel says and my dad nods as he walked to the table we had outside, the glasses were all there and so was the champagne.

Every couple got together to look at the fireworks since our terrace is huge and we have been here since dinner ended. Zoey held my mom's hand and pulled her closer, she put our mom between me and Chloe and I got what she meant, she didn't want my mom to be alone.

Mom has been single because she says she has dealt with a man for long enough, she took some time for herself and I'm glad she has. She is way more happier than she was a few years ago. The countdown reached 0 and I kissed Zoey. I wished to do this every year until I die. I truly believe she is the love of my life.

"I love you" She whispers as she hugs me after the kiss and we look at the fireworks.

"I love you ma belle. Happy new year" I say kissing the top of her head.

"You are so cute! Happy new year" My mom says and I pull her in to join the hug, which quickly became a family hug and it made us laugh.

"This is probably the best start of the year we've had" Chloe says happily. We now stood back and watched as Scotty and Zoey spoke, mom and dad were speaking too and Raquel went inside to the bathroom I think.

"I never thought this would be a thing. Never thought everyone would get along this well" I say proud of the family dynamic we've achieved.

"Look at dad! He is so happy and relaxed. He truly adores Zoey, look at this" She says as him and Scotty switch sides. Dad is now happily talking to Zoey so we both start unintentionally trying to listen which wasn't hard.

"You look great tonight. Has he been treating you right?" He asks with a hint of sarcasm and they both laugh.

"I would say that your son does treat me well and how is Raquel? Have you been treating her right? She is a bit off today" Her voice showed a bit of concern but he shrugs.

"You know how women are, there is no way of knowing what bothers you unless you tell us. She says everything is fine so I pretend to believe her until she blows up and a huge fight will unfold. I just don't know how much patience I have left for these games" That sounded like something he would definitely say so I'm not even surprised he said it.

"Don't blow off a second marriage, find the patience and try to do a bit more of an effort to find out what is wrong with her. She is your wife Lawrence" She warns him and he shrugs. "Don't even start your bullshits again. You married her so you love her, make it right"

"I don't like being bossed around and I sure don't think Lance does too" He jokes and she laughs.

"Your son would allow me to boss him around because he gets rewarded for being a good boyfriend and making me happy. You get bossed around by me because you know I'm right and you have grown to like me" She was a bit cocky but she definitely nailed it.

"That's why I don't like to befriend people. Now I have to listen to what you say because I actually care about your opinion. I'm going to see what I can do" He says as he prepares to head inside. "You need to stop being so nosy"

"He always knows" Chloe says as he completely baffled us by immediately knowing we were listening.

"I have to say, it's pretty impressive the hold you have on my father. He completely brushes off anyone's opinion if it goes against his" I say as she comes to our side.

"He is a good guy. He told me a lot of things in that coffee shop, we are like unconventional best friends because of the 40 years separating us" She says happily.

"I kind of like that he has someone to talk to. We would probably judge him too fast" Chloe says sounding a bit relieved.

"He deserves to have his own best friend, I just don't know how it happened to be the woman I fell in love with. It was a heck of a coincidence" I don't care about ir, I'm actually entertained by how much dad likes her. One less obstacle in our way.

"Forget that! Let's enjoy the new year" Zoey says as she makes me get up from my chair, she turns the volume of the music up and starts dancing, Scotty follows the lead and brings my sister to dance with him.

Dad and Raquel came back a few minutes later and it was a definitely fun night. Jesus, how has being almost broken up led to such amazing family times?
