Er, I hope not...

Right, so my premise is I don't read Boruto and I only gave the anime a shot a few years back when it first aired, more out of nostalgia than anything else, so I've no clue what's going on in the narrative apart from a few spoilers I've seen here and there on Tumblr...

One such spoiler regards Sarada's awakening of the MS, and of course, in lieu of this, age-old fan-theories are re-emerging.

The only available options for her to wield it, as far as I understand it, are two:

A Deus ex machina: some very bizarre alien metempsychosis occurs, and upon the budding Uchiha lass is bestowed the power of Rinnegan, or....Shippuden suffers massive distortion and gets retconned all the way to fucking Uranus back - because there's no other way Sarada can obtain the Rinnegan with her own devices.

Why the second hypothesis is even still relevant should really make a few eyes swivel - fans for a long time now have been pushing the theory that Uzumaki + Uchiha = Rinnegan! And now this has morphed into the idea that Sarada a half Uchiha and half Uzumaki will obtain some pretty swirly purple eyes.

You know, the whole "Karin is her real mother!" thing? That's where this fan-theory of Sarada flourishing into a Rinnegan beholder derives from and it's been circulating for ages now, which really does make me wonder how much of Naruto people have actually read.......

Even if Karin is her biological mother, that implies absolutely nothing. Sarada being potentially of Uzumaki heritage doesn't change anything in terms of her eyeballs eventually metamorphosing into Rinnegan.

Madara evolves it after waiting out decade upon decade while cooped up in his subterranean cavern - and it was necessary to implant a portion of Hashirama's flesh into his own body:

What do these characters have in common? They're respectively Indra's and Ashura's transmigrants!

Ashura -> Hashirama -> Naruto

Indra -> Madara -> Sasuke

If it were simply a matter of pertaining to either Uchiha or Senju clan, then just about any Uchiha would be capable of awakening the Rinnegan, all they'd have to do is fuck a Senju - it would literally just take is intraclan procreation between droves of Uchiha kunoichi and Senju shinobi, a fair share of hanky panky and exchange of DNA through bodily fluids, and a generation of Rinnegan-wielding powerhouse prodigy babies would be born!

And while Naruto is an Uzumaki, and Uzumaki are distant relatives of the Senju, it's not so much his lineage that matters, it's that he's Ashura's reincarnate!

Ashura's chakra merging with Indra's chakra equates to Hagomoro's chakra, and hence access to the Rinnegan power. Therefor, the prime requisite is that the potential beholder be a vessel for either Ashura or Indra's chakra: reborn transmigrants, tensei-sha, are the only ones gifted with the potential of awakening the Rinnegan.

And then, finally, there's the matter of what occurs to Ashura and Indra after the fourth shinobi war: there's no longer need for them to reincarnate, the cycle ends, because peace & love

I've read somewhere that ss her father is the reincarnation of Indra, one of the Sage's sons, Sarada already possesses some of that chakra.

This, I suppose, would be a retcon.
