The heat around that time of year was crazy, especially in a country like Spain. Most people found a way to cool or like going for a swim or took a dive in the cool waves of the ocean.

Maya Sevilla was just like most people. She liked the sun, but not too much. When her feet startled shriveling as soon as she touched the tiles of her backyard, she was quickly done with the hot summer.

But what was a better way of spending your summer vacation on a house at the coast of Spain with her best friend and her boyfriend? Nothing, not for her, at least.

She stood there, at the edge of the pool, with a wicked grin on her face. Her tan seemed to glow in the warm sun, and her teeth were sparkeling.

"Maya, don't you dare." The blond boy beneath her in the pool said, holding up a finger. His glare was deadly, and that made her smile even wider. "You know I will hate you if you mess up my hair."

She seemed to consider her action before she screamed: "Love you too!" And she jumped in the pool, making water splash everywhere, even in the hair of her boyfriend who was groaning loudly. When she came up to the water surface, she blessed him with a wink.

His blond curls lay now flat against his temple. "You're lucky I love you." He sneered, trying to fix his already wet hair with his hands.

A cackle came from the other side of the pool, and the couple turned to the girl lying on the pool bed. Her sunglasses sat on her nose, and a can of coke rested in her hands. "You look like a drowned rat!" She pointed at Marc and laughed.

Lisa Miller was a girl with blond hair and stormy grey eyes. She was gorgeous, but she never acknowledged it. She always seemed to steer attention away from her with sneery remarks or snappy comments, and boys were her biggest enemy. Comically, she was Maya's best friend, who seemed to be the nicest girl in the world.

Maya grinned at her best friend before she turned to her boyfriend, who was still desperately trying to fix his hair. "You look fine, Marc."

"Liar, you're laughing at me." He said.

And the girls laughed even harder.

Marc Notion, Maya's American boyfriend, was very much a looker. There was no denying that he got a lot of attention from girls with his smile that was just as gontaous as a disease. His honey blond hair that curled at the ends, his deep blue eyes, and his tale and muscular frame made girls go crazy.

Maya put her swim goggles on her eyes and wiggled her eyebrows. "I dare you a race." She said, her eyes focussed on Marc.

"Bet." Marc's scowl changed toe a grin as he grabbed the blue goggles on the side of the pool and put it on his head.

With either of them holding onto the wall at the fair end of the pool, they counted off before they shot through the water.
