Dan is sitting at the bedside of Zillie.
Dan: That explosion was so close to us. I was worried, but it's good to see your aura did its job.
He smiles and lets out a little laugh before his expression drops.
Dan: They really caught us off guard, didn't they? Even after all of that preparation. But we can't let it get us down. We need to use it as motivation to keep moving forward and beat whoever that was.
Ironwood's voice then comes from the side.
Ironwood: You couldn't be more right.
Dan looks over to see Ironwood standing in the doorway before walking in.
Dan: General.
Ironwood: You don't have to be formal right now. This is the time to be loose and connect. Relax and enjoy your time.
Dan looks back at Zillie as Ironwood comes walking up to the foot of the bed.
Ironwood: How is she?
Dan: She's recovering well. The doctor here says she could wake up in the next day or two.
Ironwood: Good to hear. From the looks of it, Winter is on the same timeframe.
Dan lets out a sigh.
Dan: I haven't even gone to visit her yet. Been spending the time right here with her.
Ironwood: That's fine. You belong right here with Zillie. I'm sure she wouldn't want it any other way. And besides, there's currently somebody with her right now.
Dan: Who?
Ironwood: John Sieks.
Dan immediately stands up.
Dan: What? He's here?
Dan goes to exit the room, but Ironwood puts his arm out to stop him.
Dan: What are you going? That rogue's here.
Ironwood: Just let him be.
Dan: General, I thought...
Ironwood: I know. There would be a time where I would've arrested him on the spot. But things have drastically changed since then.
Dan calms down, backing away to sit back in the chair, putting his head in his hands.
Ironwood: His actions could be seen both ways upon further analysis. The solutions to the missions were questionable. He did so much without question before going "rogue". We can't look past all of that.
Dan lets out a sigh.
Dan: I just... I get all of that, but he still walked out on Atlas. He still helped Hector Crow escape with the stone.
Ironwood: I know. Hector's experiments ruined more than a few people's lives. I'm sure that's something he won't forgive himself for. And not just that, but we're facing a powerful threat who is well coordinated with her allies. This threat seems to have no regard for what they leave behind. And their latest defeat could leave them desperate. We're going to need everybody that we can.
Dan: Are Zillie and Winter going to get a say in it?
Ironwood: I was planning on talking to them about it when they woke up, yes.
Dan nods slowly after a few seconds of thinking about it.
Dan: I can see where you're coming from. That's why I'm willing to work with him. But it's only to keep the people of Remnant safe.
