Darsh's POV:

A few days prior to their meeting.

"The painting work is still left, the kitchen interior work has not started at all. And this big building you have not installed the lift either. With all these pending issues you want me to pay the balance payment. No first at least install the elevator and then contact me."

I shouted at the construction head of the newly purchased flat of ours. I am regretting my choice of giving the charge of interior design to them only. The only thing they are doing is delaying the work so badly.

We have inherited quite some money from my grandparents and now our status has changed from middle class to, upper middle class. I have cleared out our burdening loans, exchanged our old car for a new Tata Harrier and purchased this new house.

Well, for this new investment, I didn't sell either the house we are staying in or the old house which Maa's parents i.e my maternal grandparents left for us. And to be honest I don't have to purchase one urgently either, I did it just to evade some tax concerns as per the advice from my lawyer.

And we are not sure if we will shift to the new house as the house we are living in is more than enough for us and mainly Vihas is emotionally attached to the house more than me and it means everything to him. Basically, the new house is just an investment for the sake of the future for us. So, if the pending work is completed then we will give it on a rental basis and that is getting delayed.

Soon I reached the hospital to start my work shift. Though I must not be saying this way, the number of patients coming to the hospital with brain issues has reduced and so as my work. There will be a smaller number of patients coming to the hospital daily unless any emergency cases come up.

On my way to my floor to the elevator, I heard my boss calling out for me, "Darsh!"

I turned around to find him reaching out to me with big steps. His face held a pleasant smile and a gleeful expression adorning his face. In recent months I haven't seen him this happy, at least not that I have seen him like this.

"Yes, Sir," I replied as he approached me. It's been a while since I had worked with him again. And a while since he talked with me.

After operating on her mother's blood clot issue and the so-called talk I had with his daughter he had turned even more strict with me. Just his gaze is enough for me to make me uncomfortable.

"How are you?" he asked with that gleeful smile again but I am too stunned to react normally. What's with this sudden behaviour change?

"Good sir," I replied, and the elevator stopped for us at the exact time and we entered in. The next few moments were filled in silence as the floors passed by.

I exited the lift and nodded at him, offering my bid and was about to enter my cabin, which is only a bit distant from his, he stopped me.

"Darsh," he called me again. I turned around and waited for him to say more.

"Come to my cabin during the lunch break after the patient's consultation is done. We will have a chat," he said and tapped my shoulder.

"Any problem sir?" I questioned him calmly, but from inside an unusual tension started building up.

I have known him even before I started my practice under him as an assistant doctor. I have done my specialization in the medical university where he used to come as a guest lecturer quite frequently. So, I am aware of his behavior.

This much pleasantness coming from him is not commonly seen. He is being way too informal and way too friendly out of blue. And that is making me feel that something big is coming my way.

He laughed out loud and said, "Nothing boy. Just come and meet me."

Saying so he left the place and absent-mindedly I entered my cabin and the receptionist started sending patients in.

Though I brought my focus back and diagnosed the patients' problems, my mind is still stuck with his words and actions, and I wished that the lunchtime comes way late than usual.

"How was your day boy?" he asked me as we settled down in the side room in his cabin. It is a small cozy room with a sofa and table set ahead of a television.

"Good Sir," I replied curtly, trying my best to remain calm. I tried my best to extend this sudden meeting so that he will forget about me, but he kept a track of my events and called me for lunch exactly when the last patient exited my cabin.

"Hmm. You are quite busy these days I see," he said and started eating his food and I just smiled and started eating my food.

"By the way heard you bought a new apartment. Congrats on that."

Before I could reply anything, he continued, "And you even bought a new car. Making good money I see," and started laughing on his own joke.

Smiling awkwardly, I replied, "Thank you, Sir." The news I tried my best to be kept hidden has spread like wildfires. I only shared the news with Reena and another one but I guess I shouldn't have done that.

"So when are get married?" he asked the next question very casually which made me choke on my food. Now this is some serious stuff.

"Sir?" I questioned him. It's been nearly 30 minutes that we are talking informally and never once before he was this casual with me.

"What is your age, Darsh?"

"29, Sir," I bit my lip as soon as I said it. Why did I answer it? What is he trying to achieve by asking me all these questions?

"And still not thinking about marriage?" I stayed silent this time and kept staring at him. He waited for me to show any reaction, but I didn't battle an eyelid.

Isn't it enough that he is getting his kids married that now he is after me too? I thought but couldn't even say anything.

"Liste,n Darsh," he started again looking at me now with a serious face, "You must be thinking why I am asking all these things. I will get straight to the point now. You know how much I like you. I mean out of all the junior doctors here, I find you responsible, good, caring, and perfect in all senses.

So, I would like to ask your hand for my daughter, Nidhi.
