There was one particular day far into the future from when Seraphina Sullivan and Vivian Heatherfield kissed. That day, an article appeared in the Auredellian news.
Zoe Sullivan, today's top brewer of potions, has made a revolutionary discovery that is thought to be capable of changing the course of today's future. Sullivan, inspired by her husband, Rowan Sullivan, has brewed the very first potion capable of bringing back the dead.
"Me and Rowan, we've been through so much together," recalls Mrs. Sullivan. "Many years ago, he tragically lost his aunts in the Adar mountains. They were great women. Perfect? Can't say they are, but they gave so much for us, and they're brave and they deserved a happy, peaceful life together."
Seraphina Sullivan and Vivian Heatherfield, Mr. Sullivan's aunts, went with him and Mrs. Sullivan on their harrowing journey to recover the Aura. Though mostly unknown, S. Sullivan and her sister-in-law fell in love during the journey and died together during the earthquake in the Adar Mountains, turned to stone by the Aura. Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan barely escaped the dreadful fate by destroying the Aura, sending its magic back into the earth, and Mrs. Sullivan was reunited with her human self. They eventually were married and live on Crystal Island.
"My aunts deserved a second chance," Mr. Sullivan told us. "One where they could live together happily."
Viktor, Heatherfield's husband and Seraphina's brother, made no comment on this subject, although it is known that he did save the two of them during the rescue of Heatherfield.
"It's so funny," remarked Rowan, at home with his wife.
"I know," Zoe laughed. "They make us sound like heroes."
Mrs. Sullivan's new discovery, which she calls the Draught of Resurrection, was immediately taken to the Adar mountains as soon as she was sure it worked. It was then used on S. Sullivan and Heatherfield. S. Sullivan, still charged for her multiple committed crimes, has disappeared and her current location is unknown. Heatherfield now lives with Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan.
"I wonder where she could have got to now," mused Vivian thoughtfully, reading over Rowan and Zoe's shoulder. She had been cured of her blindness (another invention of Zoe's). "I wonder if she misses me."
"Don't be silly, Aunt Vivi," smiled Rowan. "Of course she does."
"Wait, look at this," Zoe told them.
Although the resurrection of Heatherfield is welcomed with pleasure...
"Where's the pleasure-filled welcome for Sera, huh?" muttered Vivian.
...some are saying that the Draught of Resurrection will only bring more trouble. For now, it's unsure whether the Draught will bring help or harm.
Mrs. Sullivan says, "Whether or not my discovery may bring goodness..."
"...does not matter, because we can handle anything it takes," whispered Zoe.
Vivian raised her eyebrow thoughtfully. Her bright green eyes sparkled without dullness.
"Aunt Vivi..." Rowan smiled, trailing off. "Don't you remember what Aunt Seraphina said the last time we saw her, when we gave you the Draught of Resurrection."
Vivian smiled wistfully, remembering the words that Seraphina had whispered to her as they embraced before she disappeared into the distance. Vivian had repeated them to Rowan and Zoe, and she repeated them again, holding them aloft like a protecting candlelight.
"Don't worry, Viv...I'll see you again. I'll miss you and I'll always remember you...don't you know? Our story comes without an ending. Whatever happens, we'll always be here, beneath the moonlight."
