Mariana's POV

"We come back together Mar, every time, no matter what you do, no matter who you fuck. It'll never be like what we had" he said, following me
"And thank god" I sighed, stopping again
"Look go home. To your wife. To your children. Forget about that naive girl you loved. She's dead. And she loved you Tommy she did. But that time of our lives is over" I said

"Why?" He asked
"Because she broke" I said sadly, as the rain began to calm
"And no one put her back together, we're damaged goods Tommy, it's time you realise that" I said
"I realise it" he said
"But you don't accept it" I pointed out

"I'll... I'll give you some time. With him" he said simply
"I think it's best you leave" I said
"Alright, I'll go" he said
"Good"
"But if we're being honest. Truly honest. I wanted you to see me. The way you always did. But... you can't anymore. You can't see me and sometimes... it kills me Mar. It really fucking kills" he admitted

"It killed me every time you had another woman. When you were telling me sweet nothings and fucking her behind my back. You were so easily swayed by anything in a skirt. You ruined me Tommy. Maybe I ruined you too. But that's where it ends. That's where it has to end. For both of our sakes" I said

He was hanging on to a past that no longer existed
I didn't love him
Not the way he wanted me to
He was family
And even that was wearing thin nowadays

I loved my husband
I grieved my husband

"So you'll forgive him, after everything?" He asked
"I gave you enough chances didn't I?" I said
"I never faked my own death" he said
"No, just Arthur's" I said, sighing
"I don't know if I'll forgive him. I can't see myself... forgiving him. I can't believe he's even alive. But either way, it has nothing to do with you Tommy, why have you made this entire thing about you? Just go home" I said again.

"Is there anything left? Anything at all" he asked
"Tommy, I love Alfie" I said
"You can love more than one person" he said
"I know, I've seen it in your eyes" I said
"Does it hurt?" I asked
"Every single day, is that what you want me to say?" He asked

"I want you to be honest" I said
"For once eh?" He asked
I said nothing, hearing him sigh.
"It hurts. The... guilt. Guilt for feeling the way I do when I..."
"I need to go" I said after he failed to find the words
"I'm sorry" he said

"Sorry doesn't fix this" I said
"I know. But you wanted honesty. So I'm sorry" he said

I said nothing else. And made my way back to the house
As the rain slowly dragged me down on my walk. Tommy didn't follow me
