"Do you think Ayushi was lost in her thoughts today?" Ayushi's mother (Aashika) asked, looking at her husband.
Ayaan nodded and shrugged his shoulders.
"She didn't tell me anything. I asked her many times. Where is Aryan?"
"In his room..." Aashika couldn't finish her sentence because Aryan came running downstairs, holding his video game.
"Mumma, didi is disturbing me," he said, stomping his feet.
"Mom, before you say another word, I asked him to do his homework first, but he ran all the way downstairs," I said, taking my side. I knew they would take my side too.
"Aryan, your didi(Sister) is right. Go and do your homework," Mom said, glaring at him. But he pouted, hugged mom, and I knew it was all in vain.
"Ayushi, why don't you take a break? You just came back," Mom said. I was expecting it. Aryan pout his cute voice has a magic on us specially mom.
"But I want that game. At least let me play it once. You don't even know how to play it," I said, giving Aryan a pointed look. When he still didn't move, I gave him an evil smirk.
"Mom, do you know what happened last Wednesday?" I said, pausing. I could feel everyone's eyes on me, but Aryan looked the most comical.
"Didi, let's play together. Let's go to our room. I will do my homework, and you can play," he said, jumping on my side.
Even though I'm his elder sister, I'm not going to let him feel it. Yeah, I know I should take care of him and all that, he is my sweet little brother. But I will never be a parent figure for him because he doesn't need more parents. Dad is enough to keep our minds in the right place. I will just be his sibling who will keep his secret, and he will keep mine. And we both will do some wonderful mischief because he is quite young to be a good boy. And dad doesn't punish me anymore so I need not to be scared.
"Okay, let's go then," I said, chuckling, and followed behind him.

"I didn't hear a single word while that man was teaching. Now I can't understand anything. "
I close my laptop and see Aryan sleeping on my bed. He's just twelve and scared to sleep alone, so I don't mind sharing the room. But looking at him sleeping like this made me want to sleep too.
I again shift my attention to my book. I'm trying to understand since 10:00 it's been already two hours.
"I can't embarrass myself in front of Rihaan tomorrow."
I only have one option left. Sorry, dad, but I need to disturb your sleep. I can't make a fool of myself tomorrow atleast not in front of my crush.
After a five-minute debate, I make my way to my parents' room and knock on the door, which is slightly open.
"Dad," I whisper, peeking inside.
Oh no, he's sleeping. Am I invading their privacy? Yes, I am but I'm not looking at them. I see nothing. Wait, I don't have to overreact. They look cute cuddling like this. But they should lock their room if they want privacy. It's not my fault.
"Dad," I whisper, shaking him.
"What's wrong?" He answers immediately.
He was sleeping, right? How did he wake up so fast?
"What's wrong, Ayushi?" Dad says again, his voice sounding sleepy.
"Actually, I... I need your help. I'm sorry for waking you up," I say, showing him the slide copy.
He looks at the watch and puts on his glasses.
"Let's go to the kitchen first," he whispers and comes out. Being a parent is hard. They even have to sacrifice their sleep.
"You go to your study room. I'll be there in a minute," he says in his sleepy voice. I nod and head to the corner room.
I take my seat and wait for him. After a few minutes, he enters the room with two coffee mugs.
"Here," he says, passing one to me.
"It's already twelve. Why didn't you ask me earlier?" He says, flipping through the pages and adjusting his glasses.
"I thought I could do it on my own... I was distracted in class. Sorry," I mumble, feeling bad not for myself, but for my dad who isn't getting his beauty sleep.
"It's all good, let's get started," he said, gripping the pen. He quickly got into teaching mode, making sure I understood everything by asking me questions after each paragraph.
After two hours, we finished covering all the topics. I flipped through my pages and smiled. He had taken the time to make short notes for me on the side. He is the best. I couldn't forget When I couldn't grasp anything at the institute, he was the one who taught me everything.
He didn't mind when I asked him the same question over and over again. But he was upset with the fact that I was too embarrassed to ask questions multiple time in class. I hope Rihaan is just as patient and sweet. He has a charming personality, I know.
I want Rihaan to be as sweet as my father. I don't know why I'm looking for the same qualities in Rihaan, but I want to be treated like a princess by him. Even though I'm not a princess, still I want the same treatment as in movies, novels, or comics.
I feel like my standard got high because of the dad. I have seen the love in his eyes when he talk to mom. I have saw they dancing in their room. But it's a secret.
"Are we done? Anything else?" my dad asked. I shook my head and felt the urge to hug him, which I didn't resist.
"Thank you. You're amazing," I said, wrapping my arm around him.
"Thank goodness you don't have a personal tutor. I can't imagine my daughter hugging someone just because she understands everything. Now go and sleep it's too late how will you wake up tomorrow," he dismissed me, and this time I caught his joke.
"Mr. Rihaan, be ready tomorrow," I flipped my hair and went to my room, hoping to meet him in my dreams.
