Tommy was in a beautiful field. It looked as if it went on for miles, and Tommy was glad. It was like an escape from everything he knew. An escape from all the things he wished he hadn't done.
"WAKE UP, TOMMY!"
Tommy groaned loudly as he dragged his hand down his face. He blinked his eyes open and used his blanket to wipe the hot water droplets off of his face.
"Tubbo, was it really necessary to pour water on my face? Especially hot wate-"
Before Tommy could finish his sentence, Tubbo slammed the door shut while yelling "You have work in 20 minutes!"
"Shit." Tommy mumbled while standing to get ready. He figured he didn't have enough time to shower, so he quickly brushed his teeth and put on whatever he could find. A plain white shirt with a red zip-up jacket over it. He zipped up the jacket halfway, and put on some plain blue denim jeans.
Tommy fixed his hair and rushed out of the house before unlocking his car door and driving off without a word. Of course, he doesn't have his driver's license, but no one needs to know that.
-----------------------------------------------
Tommy entered the breezy cafe with sweat dropping off of his chin. Maybe he shouldn't have parked so far. Before Tommy could wipe the sweat, he heard a door open.
"Hey Tom's! Why are you late?" His boss, Hannah, questioned. Tommy was usually on time on Mondays.
Tommy nervously chuckled. He knew that admitting to waking up late would be seen as irresponsible, so he went with the most original excuse ever. "I just got stuck in traffic, but I'm here now, sorry. But uh- I can take the register if you want?"
Tommy noticed Hannah hesitated before she gave in.
"Yeah, thanks."
Tommy shuffled behind the counter and put on his apron. He sat on the stool beside the register and leaned his head on the palm of his head. Hannah smiled and just before she walked to the back, she turned to Tommy.
"Can you water the plants outside for me? I haven't gotten the chance to do it yet. The morning is always busy, you would know." Hannah gave Tommy a quick and tired glance before going into the back without giving Tommy a chance to refuse.
Tommy groaned but listened. He dragged his tired feet towards the door while mumbling, "I just got here. This is so du-!"
Tommy shrieked when his head hit someone else's chest. He instinctively bowed his head and shut his eyes from embarrassment. "Sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going-" Tommy got cut off when he looked up and saw the man who he had just bumped into.
The man had long, light pink hair that was loosely tied into a braid. There were small flowers tucked into some loose areas around it as well. He was wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt barely covered by a dark red jacket. He also wore baggy black jeans tucked into black boots.
"It's fine kid, don't worry about it." The man said in a monotone voice that sent chills down Tommy's spine.
Quickly snapping back to reality, Tommy said, "Are you going to order something? I was just about to run a quick errand, but if you're ready to order-?" Tommy was then rudely interrupted again.
"Yea, can I just get a black coffee? And a blueberry muffin as well. Thanks"
Tommy was immediately disgusted. Who the fuck in their right mind orders a god damn black coffee? Ignoring the grumble in his stomach at the thought of something so horrid, Tommy replied, "Of course, I'll have it ready soon. You can take a seat wherever you'd like. It'll only be a few minutes." Tommy smiled grimly at the man before he walked back into the kitchen.
He grabbed a pre made blueberry muffin before reaching towards the black coffee that he had just finished making.
With a low sigh, Tommy walked to the man's table and handed him his order. Before he could walk away the man spoke. "Hey, you look a little young to be working. How old are you?"
The pink haired man looked concerned. "Oh, I'm 18. I'm turning 19 in a few months."
Tommy replied in a rehearsed tone. He was always a terrible liar. Anyways, why'd this guy want to know so much? Just let a kid work!
"How old are you really? Its not like I'm gonna report you or anything. I'm just a curious person." Tommy suspiciously eyed the man before he spoke up. "I'm 16, turning 17 soon."
The man took a small sip from his drink before he said, "Cool.. uh I'm Techno."
Techno avoided eye contact with Tommy as much as could.
Ignoring the awkwardness, Tommy smiled and pretended he didn't notice the nervousness on the other's face.
"I'm Tommy! Nice to meet you." The man, or now known as Techno, just huffed in response.
Tommy then turned towards the door to water the plants, as he was tasked to do 10 minutes ago.
While Tommy was watering the last plant, Techno walked out with a muffin in one hand and a phone in the other. He looked up from his phone giving a quick glance at Tommy before continuing his walk towards the other side of the street.
Look both ways idiot. Tommy mumbled to himself. That guy's lucky that everyone is at work right now. Otherwise, he would've immediately been hit.
Ignoring the man, Tommy walked back inside the cafe and continued his shift.
--
The costumers Tommy met were.. questionable. They all had weird orders, and looked way too dressed up to be going to a small cafe.
Tommy's mind suddenly started working and he remembered what the day was. It's that one hero's birthday. What was his name again?
Figuring that it wasn't that important, Tommy laid his head on his palm and waited for his shift to end.
Honestly, it was a surprise he hasn't quit already. He already hated waking up in the morning, so why would he voluntarily work so early? He already has enough money to survive for years, and has enough knowledge to stay cooped up inside of his house.
Well, it's a question that may never get answered.
YAYAY. after many broken promises, I finally published the first chapter for the 3rd time!! I don't really like how it turned out, but its the best I can do tbh.. I'm trying to work on other stories while also focusing on my irl life, so I don't really know what to do anymore. anyways, Idk when I'm gonna post the next chapter, but oh well :))
