Before starting this fic I just want to address a handful of details so I can give everyone a better experience. First off, this fic takes place roughly a year after the events of Night in the woods. Mae works the counter at the "Ol Pickaxe," and is taking online college classes, trying to become more mature despite herself. This fic does not mention the animal appearance of the characters, and this is for a handful of reasons Ie, certain prevailing theories regarding Maes mental illness. However, it could be assumed that "Matts" character would be depicted as an otter if the reader did not prescribe to this theory. Lastly this is my first fic I have published, so please be kind, thank you- Smitty.
