THIRTY - "LET'S GO HONEY."

One month.

One whole month passed by in the blink of an eye. One month with no outside contact, one month of spending days alone and only seeing Ethan at night, if ever at all during the day. One fucking month of only, of solely, Lyds and Ramona.

It wasn't the tortured existence Lyds exactly felt it to be, Ramona in that time had in fact become a wonderful friend. Of course she showed up every day to help L clean and bandage her wounds when Ethan couldn't, but it wasn't just that either. She hung out with her, brought her food and severely outdated movies on VHS, even helped her shower when the pain was too much.

She was there. And Ethan wasn't. That was where the trouble first began to fester.

Ethan hadn't exactly gone rogue per se, he was simply elsewhere, "taking care of matters" as he called it, providing. But still, despite his daily absences he returned every evening at dusk, crawled into bed and held his Lyds like he never would again. That would never change about him, not now they practically lived together, he'd whispered on one cold night in particular "if I ever don't come home to you, then they got me, I won't ever miss a single night." and Lyds truly believed his words.

And he never broke them.

That was the one thing she could trust of his that she'd never believed she ever would again; his word.

Yet Ramona remained unconvinced on the matter.

But then again, she had her own reservations, against Ethan and in favour of Lyds.

It was one of those days when Lyds had awoken to an empty bed that Ramona had come over, armed with a blow dryer, a spray bottle and hair scissors, ready to take Ethan's place in his absence.

"You really think I'm letting you come near my head with those things?" Lyds let out a laugh, batting her friend's hand away from where they both sat perched at the end of her and Ethan's bed.

"Come on! I'm actually pretty good at cutting hair, I do my wolf-cut myself! I even used to cut Ethan's hair when we were kids."

"Really? I didn't realise you guys knew each other that long."

"Used to be neighbours." Ramona shrugged, but Lyds knew from the way she tugged at the inner corner of her lip, her one tell, that she wasn't telling her the whole truth.

But she knew she'd figure it out soon enough.

"Fine."
