Mateo Delacruz
"Where?!" I ask my mom in a high voice. I look at her as she sits comfortably on the sofa. She wears a golden dress with her makeup done lightly. "Party." She says and my dad walks in the living room. "Mateo, why aren't you ready yet?" He asks me and I sigh. I mentally groan before looking at my dad and make my way towards him.
"Dad, I'm not going anywhere." I say and sit on the sofa, next to my mom. "Mateo, you have to. This is important. It's not some casual party, it's business." Dad says in a convincing way but I stick with my decision. "I don't want to, Dad." I say and look at him only to find him staring at me. With a very serious look.
"No buts, get up and meet us in fifteen minutes." When I hear his words, I know that there is no way I am going to win this. I have no other choice but to go.
I grumble and stand up from the sofa. I look at my parents one last time before going to the room to get ready.
I walk in my room and take out any suit I see halfheartedly. The reason why I don't want to go to this party is that it is hosted by The Marcelos themselves. The one whom I told that I would never want to meet again.
I was going to see Enzo after so many days and I hated the idea. I didn't want to see him and I had every reason not to see him.
He did mention to screw the deal and to be honest, I was afraid and I still am. What if he really does something that would bring us to roads? I know what I did was right that day but I still fear his words.
I look one last time in the mirror as I set my hair. I don't do much effort on them as they rest messily. I straighten my blue suit one last time before making my way down to my parents.
I follow them silently as we all sit in the car. I sit in the passenger seat while my parents sit in the back. The driver drives the car and all that time I think about him. The city lights that light up the street remind me of him and the drive we had.
I remember him saying something about my character that night too. He thought I was going to sleep with the lady that night too. He has always been like that every time we met and I forgave him thinking he might change his point of view but I was so wrong. So wrong to think that he would be nicer to me someday.
The And this time, I was not going to let it go. I was not going to crumble my walls around him and let him walk all over me. Because I know if I did, I was going to break terribly.
Realizing that, I feel a pang in my chest and all of the sudden a limp is building in my throat. I feel my eyes get teary as I look at the building passing by and I breath deeply. I put my hands on my thighs, fidgeting with the fabric. My heart feels heavy as I try to calm myself. I am feeling so many emotions just by thinking that I am going to see him.
I should have known what kind of an arrogant, selfish man he is and kept my distance but my brain loses to my heart whenever it comes to him.
The car stops at a huge mansion. The mansion is bright and many expensive cars come and stop at the entrance. All the people who get off the car and walk in, scream richness and the atmosphere rains money. Once our car reaches the entrance and my eyes follow the distinguishing structure of the mansion. The pillar and door were enormously tall of the wide mansion.
A man opens the door for us and we get out of the car.
"Here goes nothing." I sigh and mumble under my breath before following my parents in the mansion.
"Mr. Delacruz!" I hear him coming to us in excitement and immediately look down. He seems like he hasn't noticed me as I stand in the back. I'm sure he wasn't expecting me to come. "I am so glad that you could make it." He smiles and his voice sends shivers to my body.
