Mateo Delacruz

'What was it yesterday? Work duties my ass?'

I freeze in my place as I look at the message that pops on my screen under the name of Mr. Arrogant. I thought he didn't hear me last night but boy was I wrong. I look at the screen, fidgeting my thumb over the screen, thinking what to say but before I can do anything, another message pops up.

'Sweetheart. Sure your ass is one of my duties and I don't like to keep my work pending but you, you will have to wait a little.'

Even tho, I can't see him, I am hundred percent sure that he has a smug smile on his face behind the screen. Plus sweetheart? What the fuck? I'm gonna die from blushing.

'really? It's 8 am in the morning. Aaannd, I didn't mean it in that way. Stop making it dirty. ;'('

I send the message with a small smile on my face.

' :0 it was not????? You don't want me to???'

I laugh looking at the faces that he's typing. I had not thought of him to be someone to use faces like these. And the cute ones, to say more about it.

'no. Bye.'

'Hey. Hey??'

'I was joking. Come back.'

'please :((( matttieee'

I put my phone back with a huge smile on my face when my phone is filled with his messages. Once I look up from my laps, my smile falters as I find my parents glaring at me. Ah right. We were having a discussion, a pretty heated one on top of that.

"You want to what?" My dad snaps in his voice angry as he waits for my answer.
"I want to work under Enzo, as his assistant." I reply with a calm voice.

"Are you out of your mind? The only son of Delacruz, Mateo Delacruz will work under some business man? You want to be an assistant when you have your own empire waiting for you?" My dad lectures, his voice deep and strong. I don't look at him keeping my eyes low.

"It's only for a month, dad." I protest. "Who cares what the people say? They will talk nasty anyways." I say resting back in my chair. Yes, we were back at the dining table having breakfast this time. The only time we talk or discuss something was while eating because my parent's time is limited and I don't mind it. I know they are busy people.

"So, you are willing to do it?" My mother raises an eyebrow, throughly inquiring if I actually wanted to do it.

"Yes." I reply with confidence. My mom expressions softens for a moment before she turns her head to look at dad.

"I don't know what you say, but I'm not supporting it." He grumpily says. I look at my mom in desperation. "Please." I mouth her, begging to help but she only shakes her head in defeat.

I had to do something, there's no way I was going to let this chance go. If I become his assistant, I can see him all the time, be near him. Is what I would say if I were crazy about him, but no. That's not why I want to do this job, I want the money for my cafe. The money is my only reason. Duh.

My mind goes back to last night as he had a huge smirk while he offered me this job. My heart beating crazily in my chest as I looked at him.

"I want to have you in front of me." He whispered, his voice lingering on my face. I couldn't utter a word as my mind was too slow to process what he was saying.

"What about Maria? You already have her." I questioned, not wanting to disturb her career. "Yeah and? You will be there as my personal assistant." He explained not getting bothered by anything. As if he had everything planned and sorted out.
The word personal, shouldn't have affected me the way it did, making my heart skip a beat.
