My first action was to pull Hiko away from her, afraid that she might hurt him.

"Mrs. Suarez," I uttered in a panicking voice.

She stood properly, glee was replaced by annoyance. She looked at Hiko before looking back at me. "I-Is he your son?" Her voice was both hesitant and mad.

"Do you know my Mom, nonna?" tanong ni Hiko sa babae na tila kilala rin niya.

"I'm afraid yes," she answered without looking at the kid.

Humigpit ang hawak ko kay Hiko. I was never afraid of her because she had been kind to me since college, but after that tragic incident, everything changed.

"That's amazing! You know my Mommy." "Mommy, can you remember the nonna I told you I saved from falling at the stairs? She's nonna." He smiled his sweetest.

That explains why there was a rainbow in Mrs. Suarez's face before she saw me.

"Y-You have a son?"

I can't read her face—I can't know what she's thinking but Hiko looks like his father . . .

"I'm sorry we're in a rush, we have to go—"

"Sandali!" Humarang siya sa daraanan namin. "I am not done talking to you yet."

Kung may inaalala man ako rito, si Hiko 'yon. "May bata, Mrs. Suarez."

"Why are you here?! What are you doing here?!"

"Excuse me, signora." Hiko raised his hand. "I'm sorry to interfere. But why are you raising your voice at my Mommy?" Mabilis na nakatunog si Hiko.

"Please, Mrs. Suarez. This is not the right time for us to—"

"I want to know what you are doing here."

"Talk to my Mommy nicely." Hiko is more frustrated than me now. "Do you know her, Mommy?"

"Hiko, can you leave us? You wait me for me at the waiting area again."

"No, Mommy. Why is she raising her voice at you? She looked kind but right now, I don't think she is. I won't leave you here."

"Please, Hiko. Listen to Mommy. Go there and I'll follow in a minute."

"Mommy—"

"Hiko."

"He's really your son," nangingiti ang mga ipin niyang sambit. "W-With whom?"

"I'm sorry for being here. It's a mistake. It won't happen again." I opted to avoid her question. It's my right—the only way to get out of trouble. "I don't think I owe you an answer about my son and—"

"Of course you don't! And I don't freaking care about your what and whereabouts. But if you already have a son with whoever he is, it makes your presence here more questionable. I don't know why you are back here because as far as I know, you already left for Italy. I don't understand, Maurice. Did you come back to ruin my son's life once again?!"

Nagpigil ako ng emosyon. "Mrs. Suarez, it's just a mistake. I'm not here for Yuri."

"Dapat lang!" Lumapit siya sa akin. "Mahirap paniwalaan pero dapat lang. My son is finally living again. My son has been doing well since you left. Yuri just recovered from the damage you caused! He doesn't need you to break him again! Leave my son alone, Maurice!"
