Summer 2022, Lee Family Residence
Da-hye skipped happily into the room, backpack swinging at every step as her nanny followed behind her, making sure Da-hye didn't run or end up injuring herself

At the sight of her parents, Da-hye made an attempt to run forward, before her arm was gripped by her nanny, Yoon-ah looked up, a smile on her face as she noticed her daughter

"Hye-rin, it's fine, you can let her go," Yoon-ah instructed smiling at the young woman, Hye-rin bowed politely to her boss before releasing the little girl who immediately ran into her father's arms

"Da-hye, it's like you get bigger everyday," Hyun-woo commented, pinching his daughters cheek as the girl squirmed and giggled, releasing herself from her father's grip

"How was school, sweetheart?" Yoon-ah asked, opening her arms so the girl could come to her to which the girl obliged, running forward so she could sit on her mother's lap

"It was great, I got all the marks on my spelling quiz and I was named class president," Da-hye spoke, dimples on display as she smiled happily, "She's taking after me, very soon you'll be the president of your own company just like me,"

"I reckon she takes after me, she's rather dramatic, she could be an actress," Yoon-ah countered her husband's words, a wide grin on her face as her husband admired her

"Don't you want to be an actress like mommy," Yoon-ah cooed at her daughter, to which the girl rolled her eyes and grinned, "I can make my own decisions now, I'm 6 years old,"

Hyun-woo laughed, "So because you're 6, you can make your own decisions?" he asked, however Da-hye didn't get the chance to respond as her father's phone suddenly rung

He looked down at his phone and stood up, "Excuse me," he kissed his daughter's head and his wife's cheek before walking out of the room

"Oh mom, I saw your friend at the park after school today," Da-hye reminisced as the servants pushed in trays of snacks and bowing politely before leaving the room

Da-hye reached over and grabbed a pack of potato chips from the tray as her mother looked at her in confusion, "Aunt Yeon-jin?"

"No, not her," Da-hye shook her head, "Aunt Sa-ra?" Da-hye shook her head once more, Yoon-ah looked down at her phone, "None of them, mom, she said you were friends and fell out of touch,"

"I think she's a new teacher, her name tag said Moon Dong-eun," Da-hye suddenly spoke, Yoon-ah went stiff and paled before looking up,

"Moon Dong-eun?" Yoon-ah breathed out in shock, Hyun-woo returned to the room and paused at the expression on his wife's face

She looked up and stood up, trying to form the words before leaving the room, "What's wrong with mom?" Hyun-woo asked his daughter, plopping onto the chair next to her

Da-hye shrugged, reaching over to grab an ice cream sandwich from one of the trays

Spring 2004, Song Family Residence

Dong-eun looked up, eyes on the majestic building in front of her that the prestigious Song Family called a home

Gathering all her courage, she pressed the doorbell, almost immediately the door swung open and she was met with the entity named Park Yeon-jin

"Dong-eun," Yeon-jin smiled evilly, Yeon-jin's eyes trailed down Dong-eun's figure, scoffing at the overworn, faded clothes on the girl's body

Dong-eun feeling conscious of what she was wearing, took a step back from Yeon-jin who laughed, happy with the fact that Dong-eun was scared of her

The door was pulled open wider and Yoon-ah in all her glory stepped out, she beamed almost immediately at the sight of Dong-eun and pulled the girl into a hug

Yeon-jin scowled, when she arrived Yoon-ah greeted her with a simple hi and a smile, why did this filth get a hug

Yoon-ah's mother appeared in the doorway and smiled politely at the new girl that had appeared at the door

She took in the girl's appearance and was immediately filled with disgust, why did Yoon-ah have to decide to become friends with a charity case?

Why couldn't all her friends be like Park Yeon-jin, gorgeous, polite, girls from respectful families?

~

"So, Dong-eun, what do your parents do?" Se-won asked, taking a sip from her wine glass, Dong-eun shifted uncomfortably in her seat

"Dong-eun's father abandoned her and her mother works as a hairdresser," Yeon-jin announced, an evil smile forming on her lips

"Oh," Se-won's face scrunched up in disgust, "You're poor," Se-won fully looked disgusted now, she already had an idea that Dong-eun was poor, I mean, could you see what the girl was wearing

"Mom, stop it," Yoon-ah spoke up, glaring daggers at her mother, "Her social and wealth status don't matter at all,"

"Yoon-ah, are you hearing yourself?" Yeon-jin asked, genuinely concerned for her friend, this was the same Yoon-ah who hated wearing anything that wasn't in season or designer

"I am, Yeon-jin, there's nothing wrong with Dong-eun, she's a nice girl and I think that's all that matters,"

"Thank you for the dinner, I think I'll go home now," Dong-eun mumbled and bowed politely, Yoon-ah held her friend's hand to stop her

"You don't have to, Dong-eun, we can go and watch movies in my room," Yoon-ah tried persuading, Dong-eun slowly and softly pulled her hand free of Yoon-ah's grip

"It's fine, Yoon-ah, I'm feeling quite sleepy already," Dong-eun smiled, stepping back and bowing once more before leaving the room

~

"Why did you get so crazy trying to defend Moon Dong-eun?" Yeon-jin asked Yoon-ah as they laid on her bed, popcorn on either sides of the girl

"Because she didn't suddenly need to be attacked by my mom and you," Yoon-ah rolled over, "Speaking of which, how could you be so mean to Dong-eun?"

"You need to face it, Yoon-ah, Dong-eun isn't like us, she never will so stop obsessing over her," Yeon-jin scowled,

"I don't like this side of you, this superiority complex is a terrible look on you," Yoon-ah frowned, Yeon-jin scoffed

"I don't have a superiority complex, I did nothing wrong, I'm simply telling you the truth," Yoon-ah stood up abruptly

"Yeon-jin, there's no truth to anything you've just said, you sound like an entitled, spoilt brat right now,"

"So I'm like you?" Yeon-jin tilted her head, pleased at the hurt expression on Yoon-ah's face, pleased that her words had the effect that she intended

But she had to correct herself, she couldn't lose Song Yoon-ah, not now, not ever, Song Yoon-ah was hers,

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean that," Yeon-jin feigned remorse, "I just can't believe you're defending Dong-eun like she's your best friend,"

At the silence, Yeon-jin looked up, the fact that Yoon-ah didn't look into her eyes and kept looking away confirmed everything she needed to know

Song Yoon-ah and Moon Dong-eun were best friends.

I'll kill her
