Cassie was walking around the fair with a smile on her face. Her green eyes lit up as she looked at the multiple stalls and shows that she passed by. Tents that sold clothes, bows, metalworks, and more. She took each step with her flats carefully so that she wouldn't step on her dress. The pink dress, combined with her homemade crown, allowed her to look like a princess. Slowly, she walked up to a nearby show, standing by the entrance to the area. The seats were filled with everyone watching the stage where a jester stood with a covered object next to him. The jester, complete with a jingly hat and brightly colored clothes, smiled as he looked throughout the crowd. "I would love to show you how a princess would be entertained, but I would need a volunteer princess." He said with a smile on his face. His hand was placed just above his eyes as he pretended to search the crowd.
It was then that Cassie raised her hand up as high as she could. The eighteen year old had a beaming smile on her face as she stood on her tiptoes. "Over here!" She yelled out, drawing some attention to herself.
As she did, the jester smiled as he laid eyes on her. "Yes, my fair princess, come on stage." He said aloud as he gestured for her to come on stage. Cassie giggled as she walked onto the stage, standing next to the covered object. The jester looked her up and down, turning back to the crowd immediately afterwards. "She definitely eats like royalty." He said in a playful way, poking fun at her chubby figure.
Cassie, picking up the tone, gave a mocking shocked look at the worker. "How rude! I should have your head for that!" She yelled out in an exaggerated tone. She placed her hand on her chest as a pout formed on her face.
"Oh my, my apologies, your highness. I would very much like to keep my head. Are you enjoying the fair?" The jester asked while bowing to the princess.
"Why yes I am. Thank you for asking." Cassie responded, relaxing a bit with a smile on her face.
"I'm glad. Means everyone can keep their heads. Now, I'm sure you're looking to be entertained just like everyone else." He responded as he turned to the crowd. Cassie nodded when he turned back to her with an eager smile on her face. "Well that's what my job is as your court jester. Don't worry, I'll make sure to put a nice smile on your face bigger than the one you currently have." He added.
"It'll be hard to do that." Cassie chimed in instinctively.
"Oh I hope not. Now, what did the bartender ask the horse when he entered the tavern?" The jester began to say.
"What did he ask?" Cassie responded, playing along to the corny joke.
"Why the long face?" The man shouted before laughing at his own joke in an over exaggerated manner. Cassie just shook her head at the bad joke as the man stood up straight. "You don't like the joke?" He asked. When Cassie responded with another head shake, the jester quickly took out three rubber balls. He began juggling in front of the princess, attempting to do tricks in front of everyone. "How about this?" He asked?
"Not that interesting." Cassie said in a monotone voice.
When she did, the jester stopped juggling, wincing when one of the balls landed on his curled shoe. "Oh please, your highness! If I can make you laugh even once, can I keep my head?" He asked while getting on his knees and clasping his hands together, praying to her.
"If you can make me laugh, then I shall allow you to keep your head." Cassie agreed as she watched the man plead with her.
The man immediately jumped to his feet and happily walked to the covered object, pulling out a chair from underneath the tarp. "Sit in your throne my liege. I'll help you afterwards." He said. Cassie walked over and sat down in her new throne, smiling as she did so. "Now put your feet through, you'll know you're through when you feel my hand on your foot." He instructed. Cassie did as she was told, slowly putting her legs under the tarp, feeling for a place to put her feet in. After pushing on the mysterious object a few times, she finally put her feet through the holes and relaxed. As soon as she did so, the jester switched a lock, preventing the princess from escaping.
