Violet looked around her surroundings. After the racing and rattling, it was very quiet.

Violet: Spencer will be back at the shunting yards by now. He's going to brag about how wrong I am, and he'll be puffing with pride because he won the contest, and my friends will be wondering where I am. I don't even know where I am.

Everything was very quiet. Violet didn't know what to do. Then she heard a voice.

Male Voice: Hello?

Violet let out a small gasp and looked around. There was no one there. She waited, hardly daring to puff, to see if she can hear it again.

Male Voice: Hello?

Violet heard it again, she looked ahead to where the source came from.

Violet: The voice seems to be coming from the bushes.....

Very slowly, Violet chuffed forwards into the bushes. The branches crackled and crunched. Then Violet gasped. Her eyes widened with shock and wonder. On the other side of the bushes was a very old engine. It was broken and rusty. Violet felt scared. She didn't dare speak.

Then the old engine smiled at her. It was a little frightened smile but it made the old engine look kind and gentle, it made Violet feel less scared, and more comforted.

Old engine: Hello. Too bad your brakes failed. Doesn't that always happen when you're on a hill?

The old engine smiled again. Violet blushed a little and wanted to smile too but she was scared. She didn't know whether to speak, whistle for help, or race backwards as fast as she could chuff. But Violet didn't move. She couldn't take her eyes off this extraordinarily yet kind engine.

Violet: Hello. My name is Violet.

Old engine: (sighs) My name is Hiro

Violet wasn't sure what to say next. She had never met an engine as old and as strange but interesting as Hiro.

Violet: I hate to ask, but. Why are you here? Where have you been?

Hiro: (sighs) That's a very long story. Do you like stories, Violet?

Violet's face beamed up with a smile, wanting to know more about this interesting engine.

Violet: Yes. At the Sheds, at night time my friends would tell me stories.

Hiro: Then, I hope you like mine. I came here a long, long time ago from another island. I was one of the first steam engines to arrive on Sodor.

Violet was amazed, knowing she wasn't the only engine from a different island.

Violet: Where is your island, Hiro? And what is it like?

Hiro's smile grew at Violet's curiosity, and he continued telling his story.

[Flashback to when Hiro worked in Japan]

Hiro: My island is a long, long way away. There are mountains and snow and sea. There are a lot of railways. I was the strongest engine at home. I was called 'Master Of The Railway.'

Violet: How were you able to get to Sodor?

Hiro: I came in a big ship. The journey lasted many days and we sailed many seas.

[It changes to a black and white camera footage of Hiro being unloaded]

Hiro: When I arrived at the docks, it didn't look at all like home.

Violet: What was Sodor like back then?

Hiro: It was very quiet. I was the only engine on Sodor. They called me 'Master Of The Railway' here too. I was very happy.

Violet: But what happened?

Hiro: (sighs sadly) I started to break down. The mechanics didn't have parts for me. So, I was put on a siding. I had to wait for parts from my island. I waited and waited. And now, I'm sure the parts will never come.

Violet's eyes were wide with wonder and shock, but also started to well with tears. She went through something similar when she used to work on her island, but she was mistreated at her island. She held her tears to make him not worry about her.

Violet: And I'm guessing you miss your home, don't you?

Hiro: Yes, I do. I miss being Master Of The Railway.

Violet stared at her sad new friend. She felt completely guilty and sad for Hiro.

Violet: I know! I can get Sir Topham Hatt! He runs our railway now. He'll know on how to help you.

Hiro: No! No! Please, don't do that. You must not tell Sir Topham Hatt.

Violet was shocked by Hiro's response.

Violet: Huh? Why not?

Hiro: I'm an old engine that cannot be repaired. I know what happens to old engines that cannot be really useful. They are scrapped, and sent to the Smelters Yard!

Violet knew how he felt, she was threatened to be turned to scrap by her own Island Controller. If she didn't do her work right or if she declined an order, or misbehaved by what the controller said even though Violet never misbehaved. The next time she broke down she won't be fixed for a week, just to discipline her and put her in her place.

After she is fixed but only the parts that make her useful, not bothering to give her a new paint job or actually fixing her fully, She would be forced to do the other engines' work while they get the day off and when night comes, she has to get ALL her work done so she can get some sleep. When the other engines get the opportunity, they make sure she gets in trouble on purpose or make her more insecure.

It wasn't until one day that the controller snapped and sent her away to an island where they could bother with a useless engine like her or finish the job for him, turn her to scrap. But it wasn't until Violet got to Sodor her life completely changed.

Violet: I know how that feels. That's not fair. That's not right! I can't let that happen to you!

But Violet could see that her new friend, who was once 'Master Of The Railway', was now old, alone, and scared. So Violet decided to make a decision.

Violet: I will look after you, Hiro. I won't tell Sir Topham Hatt until you're fixed! You will be safe with me. I'm sure I'll be able to find the parts to fix you. I promise, I will make you a really useful engine once more! I'll make sure You will be 'Master Of The Railway' again!

Hiro smiled the biggest smile he had smiled in a long, long, time.

Hiro: Thank you, Violet. Thank you for looking after me!

Violet puffed with pride, as a blush creeps on her cheeks.
