Magda
"Mother please I've been selected to go above ground, Father always wanted this," Magda grabs her mother's arm.
"Magda we have been over this," her mother pushes away her arm "we don't know what's out there, we don't even know if we can breathe the air, I'm not having you be a test subject".
"I'm part of a mission to find us a new home".Her mother doesn't respond, she just watches people grab their lunches from the canteen and sit down at the tables.
"If this mission doesn't go ahead we will all die," Magda whispers "we have six months before we run out of everything".
"They have time!" Her mother throws her hands up in the air "they will find someone else".
Magda shakes her head and allows her mother to walk away. Her father died two years ago. He was one of the main scientists involved in their return to Paracosm. The issue of the bunker lasting a hundred years only became a thing ten years ago, Magda was only twelve at the time but she remembers the whispered conversations her father would have with her mother, the hours he'd spend in his office, all the time he spent with Hayes, the leader of the bunker.
As a little girl Magda thought they'd be able to fix the bunker, that they wouldn't have to worry about the oxygen running out. As she got older she realised the work that went into this bunker over the past hundred years, and many years before. As far as they knew they were the only bunker that survived the blast and any bunker that did either had a mutiny or they were too selfish with supplies.
Hayes' grandfather was one of the original men that came to the bunker. Hayes came along twenty years later. His father was only five when the bombs dropped, his grandparents were high up in the government and were able to afford to come to the bunker. His father quickly became leader when his grandfather died, and it was only fair for Hayes to become leader when his father died. Magda's not sure how her family got into the bunker, but she presumes they had money.
The bunker's only ever had fifty people, there's a strict one child policy. A lot of people didn't have kids, they didn't want them to end up being the ones that would have to go above ground. The majority of the people believed the Bunker People should die out with the bunker. Magda's glad her parents decided to have her, she wants to see what's above ground, she's dreamt of it since she was a little girl.
Dolag
"They escaped during the night, they were found on horseback," Cormac comes into Dolag's tent.
"Who found them?".
"I did".Dolag looks at herself in the mirror, she fixes her light dress and turns to him "did you send men out to find them?".
"I did, your Grace," he looks away."Men tried to escape the camp, the men you sent out refused to hunt down these men..." she waits for him to meet her eyes "what else can I expect when I come into their camp and start demanding things?".
"Your Grace they hate the Swayne family more than you, they supported your family, they will support you," he says.
"They supported my family because we had an army, we had power and wealth and now it is just me and my brothers".
"They fear your brothers more than anything," he says "fear is what made them follow your family and you will do the same".
She chuckles "fear is not what makes a good army"."I was one of your father's greatest fighters and trusted friend," he says "I saw how much the people loved him and his powers, now you have that power, yes these people feared your family but they were mesmerised by their powers. The Swaynes have nothing only wealth, what will they do against foreign invaders? The people fear your power but they know your power will protect them".
