I woke up this morning a little too excited to go to school. To meet Brandon. I asked him to give me a chance to talk to him, and he nodded.
So I can't wait to see him today. A glimpse of hope won't hurt anyone.I finished my morning workout earlier than usual, and then I went for a cold shower. I changed into a black sweatshirt and a pair of joggers that go with it. I used to go to school in joggers unless it's uniform day at Elite Class High. I scoffed at the memory.
I went down to the kitchen to bring something to eat before my 30 minutes of driving to March Local High.
I entered the kitchen to find mom and dad standing around the island laughing.
I stood by the entrance with my eyebrows raised. "That's a first!" I joined them. I looked at my watch. "Aren't you supposed to be running somewhere around the block right now?"
My mom greeted me by kissing my cheek. "We haven't seen you this early for a while now. So we thought we could grab breakfast with you today."
I jokingly frowned at her. "Okay!"
My dad was pouring coffee. "How is the new school?"
"Pretty good. It's not as bad as you thought, actually." I took a seat on the nearest stool. "I even made it to the basketball team."
"Ugh!" My mom sighed, taking the sandwiches and went to set on the small dining table behind me. Dad laughed. I was clueless. "What's going on? She should be happy for me, but it looks otherwise!"
He handed me my coffee, chuckling. "She just lost a bet." Whispering.
"What? What bet?" I acted offended. "Are you making money over me? Your son!" I clapped. "Wow!" My dad shrugged.
"It's not like that, Jim Jim. I just thought you'd wanted to be back by the end of your first day there." Mom said. "No mother would like to send her son all the way across town to such a district." She faked crying.
I turned to look at my dad whispering. "How much did you make?" I held my laugh. He lowered his voice. "50."
"Hundred?"
"Thousand." He winked.
"NICE!" I laughed. Those two!
"We trust you, though. It was just a joke. I know you wouldn't make decisions out of nothing. " My dad smiled, explaining himself.
"Oh yeah, no, I know." I understood.
We gathered around the table, eating.
"So, are we allowed to know about your own REASONS or not yet?" Mom quoted the air, asking.
"I'm afraid not yet, but let's say it's going better than I thought." I thought of Brandon and his beautiful face.
Dad interfered. "But seriously, Jimmy. When are you going to introduce us to your own reasons?" He chuckled. Mom almost choked at her juice.
"Ha ha! With this humor? Never." I started to get up so I won't be late.
They both awwed me. "Come on! We were just kidding. Finish your breakfast. Come on."
"No, I'm full, really. I gotta go, or I'll be spending the first period at detention." I wasn't kidding, though.
"Detention! Since when you care about those things. A few donations, and you won't have to worry about it for the rest of the year." He chuckled. I glared at him. "What a way to raise your son!"
Mom slapped his shoulder. "Jeffrey, stop! Okay! Be careful while driving, honey." I leaned over and kissed her cheek. "I will."
I was heading outside the kitchen when my dad objected. "Hey! What about me?"
I gave him a fake smile, ready to run. "I'm too old for this!" I shrugged and walked outside, leaving them laughing.
I parked my truck at the same spot as I did since day one. I made my way to the entrance, choosing to egnore the whistling and the comments.
"Rizz!"
"Showing off too much, new boy?"
"Damn, hottie!"
"Money walk, money talk! Ayy!"
I rolled my eyes and kept walking anyway. I never let these nonsense get to my nerves.
I was dying to make it to lunch break so I could finally see Brandon. I saw him in the hallways in between periods, but it was hard to talk to him since he disappeared in the blink of an eye.
When it was lunchtime, I found the table where I first saw Brandon empty, so I sat on it. I kept glancing at the cafeteria front entrance. Some times have passed already. I was losing hope, and I believed he wouldn't show up.
"Hey, handsome boy. Wanna sit with us?" A blond girl came by, leaning on my table. I looked at her. She was one of the minions always following Janice. She leaned close on the table, trying to seduce me, apparently. She's doing nothing but making a joke out of herself. "Why would I even want to sit with you?" I scoffed. She giggled. "Duh! We're the popular here. Of course, you would wanna sit with us." She put her hand on my arm. I followed her move, feeling disgusted.
I was about to reject her offer when I caught sight of Brandon staring at me from the front entrance. He was coming my way, but apparently, he changed his mind because now he was walking the other way!
I left the table, fast walking to catch him.
"Hey! I'm talking to you!" The whatever girl said.
I made it to the hallway. "Hey! Brandon, wait!" He stopped the minute I called his name and turned to look at me.
"Why didn't you come for lunch? I was waiting for you." I asked.
"You were busy with your friends, and i don't really get along with them. I'm going to have lunch somewhere else."
I grabbed his hand before he could leave. "They aren't my friends! I don't have friends in here."
We paused for a second. His eyes went down to our hands. I followed. I felt a tingle the moment I realized that I was holding his hand, Sqeezing it.
Our eyes met. "You grib." He calmly said. "It's hurting."
I let go immediately. "Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you." I lowered my tone. "I felt abandoned at lunch. You said you'd join me."
"I didn't say that. I didn't promise you either."
"My mistake then." I felt down. Somehow, he was breaking my heart!
I took steps backward, getting ready to back off. I was annoying him anyway.
"Anyway, enjoy your lunch. I won't bother you." I turned and begun to walk away.
"Wanna join?" He said.
